[Enter:Lord Cedric and Elyon from the Clearing]
The courtyard was filled with soldiers. Some of them were training, the others - guarding the place from who knows what. But one in particular attracted Cedric's attention - for he was just walking about and doing nothing.
"Hey, you!" Cedric shouted impatiently. "Yes, sir?" the guard jumped into the air and looked at him. "Where is the prince?" Cedric asked. "The prince... Oh, yes! Last time we saw him, he was heading for the... let's see. Miranda's chamber?" "Ah, hell." Cedric frowned. "Looks like I interrupted something rather... important, you know what I mean?" "No, I don't." the soldier replied. "Oh... Okay, then... Carry on." But when the guard was about to turn around, Cedric added."Go to Miranda's chamber. Wait for the prince to be done and then tell him that we'll be waiting for him in the princess's room." "Yes,sir!" the guard nodded and left.
Cedric looked at Elyon and said "I suggested your room because I think you need to rest a bit, princess. Shall we go?"

"Hm?" Elyon looked up. She hadn't really paid any attention to what Cedric was saying. She was a bit busy trying to remember yet another new route through the large palace. From her dormitory to the throne hall and to the main gate were already memorized pretty well... Now for the rest of the complex... "Oh, uhm... Yes. Please do."

Please do what? Cedric thought, looking at Elyon. She obviously wasn't listening. But, as a matter of fact, Cedric didn't really care. If she wants to stop and daydream for a while, it's her right.
Cedric quietly sat down on a nearby bench and started observing Elyon - especially her expression. She was thinking hard about something and he couldn't help but wonder about what. For some reason, Cedric suddenly felt very good - he even wanted to just lie down and rest a bit. But instead, he kept sinking into Elyon's eyes.

Elyon looked around for a while, trying to understand where in the castle's complex this was... That entrance there... Doesn't that lead to...? "Hey, Cedric." she started. "I think I'll go by to see how the Throne room is doing, okay?" She briefly forced a smile and walked to the hallways she needed. "I'll be back in a minute!" she added as she left the courtyard...

"Sure thing, princess." Cedric replied, watching her leave. Elyon was bound to meet Vathek there, but considering the fool's mood, it probably wasn't something to be concerned about.
So instead of worrying, Cedric relaxed and allowed himself to daydream a bit.

"On second thought..." Cedric stood up and looked around. "It's best not to leave her alone with him, no matter what the case."
Some say that no matter how clever a lie is, it's still powerless against the truth. Cedric knew just how pathetic this statement was, but it kept bothering him. He could only imagine how frustrated Phobos would be if he'd find Cedric sleeping around and giving Vathek a chance to show Elyon the truth.
"It would be the end for me." Cedric stated angrily. Then he saw a group of soldiers swarming into the courtyard from the castle. They all seemed confused - and some of them were still carrying tools. Feeling uneasy, Cedric approached them and asked "What's the meaning of this?" "Sir," one soldier replied. "We were repairing the throne room, under the orders of sir Vathek, but the princess came and ordered all of us to leave." "All of you?" Cedric looked around, looking for Vathek. "Well... Everyone except sir Vathek." "d**nation!" Cedric pushed the soldier aside and ran to the throne room as fast as he could.

[Enter: Caleb from Elyon's room]
After a maze of corridors that he got out of merely because of luck, the rebel leader finally got to the courtyard, from where he planned to leave the castle. Caleb couldn't pick a worse time to get here - aside from the regular guards, the rebuilding party was also here, so the place was filled with soldiers. Now they all turned towards him with such absurd expressions that it would have been funny if it wasn't so dangerous.
"I'm probably not very welcome here." Caleb said. "I'll just take my leave then."
And then he ran towards the gates. The soldiers finally woke up and acted. Some of them unsheathed their swords and ran after him, while others grabbed bows and started shooting at him. Screams like "Don't let him get away!" "Kill him! Kill him!" "The one to kill him will get a reward!" "Let's bring his head to Phobos!" "Can I eat him?" "Close the gates, d**n it!" Filled the air. But since Caleb's surprise arrival bought him some time, he managed to run away moments before the gates closed behind him.

Just a moment later...
[Enter: Elyon from the Throne room]
Everyone in the courtyard seemed to go crazy over Caleb's escape and by the time Elyon arrived here, looking for Cedric, things still hadn't calmed down. The princess, despite the unusual activity here, didn't really want to hear what happened... It was probably just bad news and she wasn't really in the mood for that...
Another thing she noticed is how the sun broke through the clouds... Had today's events really made her stay awake through the whole night? Shielding her eyes from the sunlight, Elyon continued to look for Cedric in this madness...

[Enter: Lord Cedric from the Throne Room]
Thinking about a world in which people never run out of energy, Cedric ran into the courtyard gasping for air. The soldiers were running around and shouting random orders that no one bothered to follow. And where was Elyon? There she is Cedric smiled, when he finally spotted the princess. She was obviously looking for him - how could he be slow enough not to get here first? Cedric waved his hand, trying to get Elyon's attention and started squeezing his way through all that mass of soldiers. "Alright, everyone, stop!" Cedric yelled. But no one heard him through the noise, so he just shrugged his shoulders and finally approached Elyon. "Forgive me, Elyon." He said. How many more time will he have to apologize today? "I decided to take care of an errand, but it took more time than I expected. How's the throne room doing?"

Elyon tried to put up her most cheerful smile at the sight of Cedric with only limited success. It had become some sort of standard today... "Cedric. I was just looking for you." she remarked. "The throne room... Well... It's okay I guess... Vathek said he wouldn't leave until it was finished so I suppose it's in good hands." The tone in her voice clearly contradicted the statement... "Anyway... I've been awake all night." Elyon continued, pointing to the risen sun. "So I probably should go back to my room and see if I can get an hour of rest."

"Why of course, Elyon." Cedric tried to smile, but failed. "You should have told me that before - a lot has happened today, it must have been a strain."
Then, a strange feeling came to his heart. He hated when Elyon was acting all arrogant and independent - but seeing her tired made Cedric softer and he looked at her warmly. "You shouldn't be too hard on yourself, Elyon. Should I guard your sleep?"

With a faint smile, Elyon slowly shook her head, adding: "Thanks, but there's really no need. I think my brother and your army need you more than I do." Although she did not say it, Elyon also remembered what Cedric had told Vathek earlier. She really felt she shouldn't get on his nerves the way he claimed she did... "I'll probably see you again in a few hours, okay?"

"I'll be waiting, princess." Cedric replied. "You don't know how nice it is to speak to you after spending hours with these simple-minded soldiers or your brother... That is, of course, if you're in a good mood."
The soldiers around began to settle down and return to their duties, but surprisingly no one still bothered to tell Cedric what happened. Well, he was too tired to care anyway.
"At least allow me to escort you." Cedric said.

"I'd like nothing less." Elyon said while presenting her arm.
