Both the show & the comics claim that the Hearts of Worlds cannot be taken--they must be given.
Yet (in both the show & the comics), the Oracle took the Heart of Kandrakar from Nerissa & gave it to Cassidy. Considering Nerissa was willing to kill Cassidy in an attempt to get the Heart back, I highly doubt she willingly gave the Heart of Kandrakar to the Oracle.
What gives? This doesn't make any sense at all.

Hmmm... Interresting point...
Maybe a good issue for the 13th portal? Because I don't have an answer ready to this one...

Maybe something inside her heart (what light was left) told her to relinquish it. Another thing didn't they some where that the Heart chooses its keeper? Nerissa may have had it at the point but the Heart may have said "F you" and relinquished itself to the Oracle.

The oracle is like the big boss man of kandrakar. If neccessary he can take the heart away from somebody, like Nerissa.

roflol Tridy! That deserves a karma cookie ;D
But the rule has to at least have one limit just in case a nutcase like Nerissa has control of the Heart. I'm sure it sensed so much evil that it probably rushed out of Nerissa's hands at the first opportunity with it's "tail" between its legs. The Oracle probably can't tell the Heart who the owner is, but he could probably enhance its decision of its Keeper by showing the good candidates. Remember that the Heart is practically a living entity with a moral spirit

But Phobos becomes the Oracle in a later arc & is still unable to take it from Will.
Whoever thought Phobos would go from jail-bird to the dude in charge? Now that was a shocker.

The only thing that sucked about Phobos being revealed as the guy inside Endarno was how early the revelation occurred.
And remember that the Heart has a mind of its own.

I've thought about it for a bit now, and maybe I plug up some holes. As mentioned by Will, the Heart of Kandrakar has sentience. Not only have Will and Himerish hinted at it several times throughout the story, but I even recall one issue (the Year Before special perhaps?) in which the Heart of Kandrakar itself narrated a sequence, pretty much confirming it as being sentient. And in keeping with Vandom's own words: it's the heart that chooses it's keeper, and not the other way around. On the subject of the Oracle's powers of taking it away: let's not forget that Endarno/Phobos wasn't fully Oracle yet at the time. Maybe the true Oracle can influence the heart's choice, and make it ditch it's current keeper. Finally: maybe Nerissa did willingly give the heart back to Kandrakar. It would make sense for her to obsess even more over it that way. She gave up her power, thinking she could manage without it, and not wishing to clash with the Oracle's wishes. But then she realised just how addicted she became to being the keeper of the Heart, and demanded it back, resulting in Cassidy's famous incident. Just a theory though...

that's a good theory and more along the lines of what I was thinking. Although I don't really think that the Oracle has complete power over the heart, although what you said about Nerissa could be true as well. Xin Jing is extremely pure and can know when her spirit with the Heart needs to get away from someone like Nerissa when someone like the Oracle is calling for it.

s19.photobucket.com/albums/b152/witchfan2122/Issue%2022/?action=view¤t=48.jpgYes, you're right. But it still seems wrong. Will took the Heart of Kandrakar away from Nerissa without her permission. That's just wrong. It's as if that dumb rule was only made for the bad guys to follow. ____________ Since Cassidy's spirit was able to give Will the Star of Cassidy, I'm wondering if Nerissa could do the same thing. Her spirit (assuming she dies in the RPG) could visit someone's dreams (Phobos) & offer to hand over the Star of Nerissa in exchange for something (destruction of the guardians).

Well, I do believe Nerissa herself agreed on some sort of contest over the heart in that issue, to prove that she was it's true keeper. But if that doesn't satisfy you: call it a deus-ex machina. ___________ Well, let's just say that if something like that ever were to happen, it would have to wait until the fourth arc, because Nerissa is freed in second one she can't come over right now (and no: the Mage and Trill don't count). I also believe that the rules say (or said) something about the inclusion of 'new' magical artifacts. Really. Kandrakar has plenty of that junk, and even more with the show's collectibles thrown into the mix.
