[enter: Elyon from Trackie's abandoned swamp lair]
Elyon stepped through the veil with her eyes closed and her head held high. In her mind she was attempting to forget her regrets about abandoning Phobos and Meridian and, for once, was moderately successful. As she opened her blue eyes all she could see was the home of enemies and traitors, and the sight conjured years worth of fake memories. There was no room for regret in Heatherfield. Only hate and anger.
"Cedric!" she called as soon as she saw the man. "Do you suppose we should do something about this thing here?" she asked, pointing her thumb at the portal. "I mean, it's not exacly subtle to have a big blue light show the whole town were we came from..." In fact, Elyon was amazed this portal was even still open, considering there were guardians here, looking to plug up every hole in the veil they could find...

Right. How come that thought didn't cross his mind? If the portal would get closed with them on this side, it would be disastrous. "Good thinking." Cedric nodded. "But I'm afraid I can't be of much help. You'll have to do it yourself."

"Alright." Elyon replied. She had a feeling she had to do everything herself anyway. But then again, that should be pretty unsurprising if yu remember that her magic allowed her to do pretty much everything - and I mean pretty much everything.
She turned back to the portal and allowed her power to do what it did best. Change reality in a way she wanted. So quickly enough she made the portal shrink and vanish. Vanish? Well, not quite. Elyon closed the portal like one would close the livingroom door. Without locking it. She could open it again at a whim, with hardly any effort. And now that it appeared to be sealed, it lost the risk of actually getting sealed for real as well...
"What do you think?" Elyon asked as she straightened her back a bit more. Yeah, she thought she could be proud of herself.

"Fascinating." Cedric answered. "I love to see you doing subtle things. It's like the portal never existed."
In reality, he wasn't that amazed. It's easy to do things when you have a huge magical pool of energy given to you just because you were born different. Cedric never liked people having power they didn't deserve. He worked really hard to get all his skills and spells and that was worthy of respect. Why am I so angry? Cedric thought. Is this jealousy?
Suddenly, a gust of wind brought him back to reality. "Okay." Cedric said, still unable to concentrate. "So we are here, in Heartherfield. Now we must think of a plan."

"Oh, you're such a charmer." Elyon stated while she grabbed one of her braids and started playing with it for a bit. "But if I hadn't learned the basics from a certain wonder teacher, I'd still be stuck as boring old Elyon Brown from Heatherfield..." She tried to smile. That must've been the most lighthearted thing she said since her birthday. It actually felt like a relief to throw all the seriousness Phobos and Meridian demanded of her out the window. "But you're right. We need a plan. And more importantly..." Elyon pointed to the dark evening sky of this world. "We could use some sleep."

Cedric raised his eyebrows. Here, in Heatherfield Elyon seemed more relieved already - even with the guardians being here. Cedric spent enough time on this side of the portal to know that here Elyon is a "missing person" and it would be troublesome if someone would recognize. This world, Earth, was full of dangers - but they weren't as obvious as those in Meridian. Still, the princess... not much of a princess here, actually - was relieved and happier. As if this kind of life, a simple life with simple problems would be better for her than the life of a queen. Still, he liked this change. "I don't know about sleep, Elyon." He said. "Don't you think that in this magicless world, the guardians would soon feel a trace of powerful magic? They are treacherous and cunning - I think we both know that. And even if they wouldn't discover us, this world is still too... alien for me to sleep calmly. We could at least put on different appearances - so that no one would recognize us immediately."

"Hmmm..." Elyon needed a moment to think it over. Magic or alien, she still had some catching up to do in the sleeping department, regardless of the circomstances. And Cedric could use some time to win some strength back too. "Well how about we go over to my place and-- No wait..." She disaproved of the idea quickly. Her memory was blurry, but she dfinately rembered that there was trouble over at her house. It would also be the first place people - and guardians - would start looking for her.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Elyon exclaimed as she snapped her fingers. "Is that bookstore still around? You owned the place, didn't you? How about we go there?"

"Well, that's an idea." Cedric replied. "But I'm afraid the place doesn't have a proper bedroom. Not fit for a princess, I'm afraid." Cedric said that playfully. He didn't mean to mock Elyon. "But... How should I put it..." He started walking back and forth. As much as Cedric wanted and needed sleep, it could wait. They were here on a mission - well, at least he was - to annihilate the guardians. And he could not rest until it was over. But he didn't want to be the aggressor in Elyon's eyes. He was doing the right thing. So he had to make it seem like it was Elyon's idea. "I'm not sure if I can sleep..." He sighed heavily. "With those... things around. Looking for you. Seeking to destroy you."

"Well, at least you need to sit down for a bit." Elyon said. "And a change of clothes. Blue robes suit you very well but it doesn't really blend you in with the crowd." she added in a lighthearted tone. "Besides. There's not much use in standing around a back alley. It's November and kind of chilly." It was November, right? Yeah, it had to. Halloween was just a little bit over a week ago.

"I'm fine, Elyon, really." Cedric smiled forcefully. "I've been through worse, when there wasn't anyone there to give a d**n about me. I'm more worried about you. Even if they're much weaker than you, they still can't be underestimated. But I've been thinking..." Cedric still hesitated for a moment. Wouldn't it be a bit too low? Of course not. "I've been thinking that we should play their game for a while. It would bring us both safety and an advantage." Cedric said. "Especially if we want to.. blend in with the crowd. What do you say we do what they do best? You know, pretend to be their friends? Like... shapeshift?"

There was the shape-shifting stuff again. It would be quite a brilliant plan, had it not been for the fact that it involved an ability Elyon hadn't mastered yet. When Cedric first mentioned it, she was less than thrilled by the idea. And to be honest, she still was. "Uhm... I think I'll need a bit more practice before I start using that shape-stuff in public..." she admitted, biting her lip and looking away. It's a bit ironic. She failed to look like someone else but succeeded on becoming completely invisible without even trying. "Can't we just try something else first? Something simple and effective. Like appearing from nowhere when they least expect it and deal with them before they can react?" That's called an ambush, Elyon... "It's quick and without comeuppance." she added as she started walking. Right now, she just wanted to get out of this chill...

"If not now, then when, Elyon?" Cedric asked. "Tomorrow? You're gonna have to learn this sooner or later, then why not now? This is one of the few things our enemy doesn't expect us to do, it would make things much easier! Just imagine getting a chance to hear the secrets that were kept hidden from you all your life! Just imagine a chance to strike when they least expect it!" Cedric calmed down a bit and continued. "You can do great things with your powers, but one of the most important things is to learn to control it. Besides, I'm not ordering you to do it. All I ask is for you to try - knowing that it would be a great victory - and that it might save your life - and mine too."

"I did try it. Last night, remember?" Elyon replied. "But I just stayed the same, despite the effort. Just like the flying business." she sighed for a moment. "I just think I'll need some more time - and rest too." Cedric had a point, of course. But her powers were still developping. That's why she was still around, actually. Otherwise Phobos would've absorbed her into himself already... "Look. I'll try to make it work. But if I can't do it, I don't wanna be stuck doing nothing in the meantime."

"Deal." Cedric said brightly. "Just don't think that I'm pushing you or anything. I just want to make sure that... well, nevermind. We can talk about it later." It truly was quite cold and while Cedric didn't mind, he could see that Elyon doesn't like it too much. So he decided to leave the lesson for later and just find someplace warm. "So... My bookstore, right?" Cedric asked. "Well, I'm not sure where we are but I guess we should try to get there."

"We should." Elyon nodded in agreement. She knew a lot of Heatherfield's streets and alleys - even though she hated knowing that - but now that she thought about it, she can't remember where the bookstore was in the first place. She never actually went there. The first time she barged in the bookstore, she had no idea how she got there. How could she? She was just opening the front door of her house. All subsequent visits... Well, then she entered from the other side of the veil which isn't helpful either... Guess it's just a matter of hoping that she recognized a landmark... Thank goodness, it wasn't snowing.
