"Cedric, I order you!"
"But Phobos, sir--"
"Go, now! It could bring us one step closer to finding my sister!"
"But sir--"
"Go or I'll have you poisoned to death!!"
"Oh, alright." Cedric sighed angrily. Could this day get any worse?
He packed his bags and headed straight through the portal, but was pulled aside by a strong force. "Vathek!"
"Where are you going?! I heard Phobos screaming at you!"
"Earth," Cedric muttered bitterly. "I'm going to Earth to find her. It's the only world we have looked in yet."
"Earth?! But how will you ever survive?! They have the strangest customs, nothing makes sense in that place!"
"I know, I know, don't remind me!" Cedric went through the portal and looked around the world that he most despised.
"Now to think of a way to disguise myself...let's see..." He searched round the place until he spotted a bookstore. A man talking to student was by the door.
"Hello, welcome to my bookshop, how can I help you?"
"Um, yes, I looking for some textbooks, do you have any?"
"Right this way," he led her into the bookstore.
"Perfect," Cedric smiled slyly. He stepped inside the bookstore, the bell annoucing his arrival. The unexpected ring made Cedric twitch.
"Can I help you, sir?"
"Yes, you can!" He unleashed his agonizing powers upon the residents of the bookshop, it owner slowly dissappearing. The rest of the people were frozen solid.
"I am the keeper of this shop," he said, smiling in the shadows. His dark blue eyes glowed so hard, as if fire were behind them.
Everyone came back to life, looking at Cedric as if he were human. "I found the textbooks! Thank you very much!" The student from earlier held a skinny red book and a large blue in her arms. She let go of three pieces of green paper, two silver pieces, and one gold piece.
"What is this?"
"Well, it's money of course!" Then she left, the door bell ringing behind her.
"This is money?" Cedric said to himself, examining it. "How am I suppose to know how to count this?!" He suddenly looked down at book with money on the cover. "How To Count Cash. It's lucky that I know how to read their language." He smiled and started read, letting the customers search around the place.
He learned very quickly that counting Earth money was actually quite fun. He also learned the power of owning a bookshop, of how he could yell at people to get out, how he could tell as many to people to be quiet, even they weren't talking, and how he could put time limits on the computers. He almost felt like Phobos, ruling over anyone who dared step into the bookstore.
"This day was actually a lot of fun! I think I'll like Earth very much," Cedric grinned. Suddenly he remember something: he was supposed to install a communication orb to contact Phobos on anything important.
He put the orb on a three-legged stand and poured sand over it. He decided it would be best to put it in the back so no one would catching talking to Phobos.
"Phobos?" Nothing happened in the first five minutes. Then a holograph of Phobos appeared. "I see you've found a place already. Good." He smiled. Cedric did too. He was satisfied.
"Yes, yes, my prince, I promise to have your sister as soon as possible." Their voices sounded as though they talking to each other through speaker phone. Every once in a while Phobos image twitch.
"It seems you're in a better mood, Cedric," Phobos said, with a curious tone in his voice.
"Well, I've tasted power, the joy of people taking orders from you."
"But Phobos, sir--"
