I know I voted Trial of the Oracle on the old RPG, but really, I think it's actually the old-fashioned first meridian arc. After all, it's what started it all, and I really enjoyed reading every bit of it. (Might check out the book scans too. ) There are just so many things, even now, that point back or refer to the Meridian arc. It forms quite the solid foundation of the series. With the mysterious and spooky air, and the extremely limited help from Kandrakar whatsoever. It's just a shame that it's only twelve issues long... The second arc was intruiging as well, though I didn't like it as much as Meridian. Luckilly, there was plenty of mystery and dark spookiness in this arc too. The third arc was... not the best arc there is... Basically every issue had a feeling of: Go to Kandrakar, go to Arkhanta, fail your mission and retreat. Over and over again. (And what's up with the oracle anyway? Surely he didn't really expect the WITCHes to s beat down Ari on their first visit there? Yet when they return, he says so very accusingly: "You've failed!") The heatherfield parts kinda saved the sloppy structure of Arkhanta missions though. The astrals and agents really gave a nice twist to the plot! I even remember having checked out issue #32 in a bookstore sometime, and I loved the idea of 'psychic detective';D Trial of the Oracle reffered back a lot to Meridian. It certainly was an excellent arc and I enjoyed reading it. I loved Cedric's setup which made him get away with Elyon's crown! (Might even be my fav scene so far. ) Phobos jumping out the window leaves everyone thinking he's dead, though he still has plenty of potential to return, which is good! The stand-alone ending with the Brath Of Time was funny to read, though I just can't help but view it as a side-story instead of part of the main storyline. Anyone else feel that way too? Ludmoore's Sage... It was a good one, for sure, but not as well-thought out as meridian. And that while it was such a major throwback for most part. It was logic that the writers needed WITCH to get the element stones, and it would've worked in a game for sure! But not in this story, so it was logical taht the gem gathering was kinda rushed after the first one. Downside? It felt so darn sloppy! Also, I expected more to come out from the Cedric/Orube pairing, but never did I actually had the feeling they were more than just friends (while they're supposed to be lovers). This arc started out promising, but missed the mark, which is a shame. Still, it was a good one. Also, over the course of the storyline, did anyone notice how many times WITCH accomplished 'Kandrakar's most dangerous and most important mission'? That title starts to lose value for a bit... And saving the world really is creeping into a hobby list, rather than all-important and life threatning. I hope the coming arcs will be much more like the first one again. For it remains my all-time favorite arc.
