Day Ten Hay Lin awoke as sunlight streamed in through the window, blinking and rubbing her eyes. Was it morning already? She rolled over in bed and looked at her alarm clock, blinking sleep from her eyes. Yep, it was morning all right. Too bad, she could've done with another day's sleep. Or two. She swung her legs from the bed and wandered over to her dresser, pulling clothes out and assembling an outfit to face the day. Several minutes later, her hair was pulled into pigtails, and she was hopping down the stairs with one boot on and one boot in her hand, trying to put it on as she went while the smell of cooking food wafted up from the Silver Dragon kitchen. She had to get going or she'd be late. Maybe someday she'd catch up on her sleep. [Exit Hay Lin to the Kitchen]

[Enter Hay Lin from Kitchen]
Swinging up into the apartment, she informed her parents - meaning she was phrasing it as a question, though she had already made it a fact to the others - that she would be having a sleepover with the girls that night. She went up to her room for a while, scribbling out some attempts at her homework, but her mind was elsewhere. On the winds that blew over Heatherfield, connecting the city, and the winds the imagined blowing through Meridian, the landscape of the capital city below. Finally, she just couldn't concentrate on school anymore, and she returned to the kitchen to eat a few pickles out of the jar, then headed back upstairs. Her light footsteps traced a circle around her messy bedroom, going through her makeup and painting a small black star on her cheek with eyeliner, tossing a few t-shirts around with the vague notion of finding one she'd misplaced, and staring at the clock...a lot of that.

[Enter: Taranee from her house]
"Hey Hay Lin. I'm back. My parents said I could sleep over." *tosses overnight bag on the floor* "Is Will still out with Matt?"

[Enter: Cornelia from her house]
Cornelia was slightly nervous. She was trying to keep her cool, but she knew it showed... She was staring at her feet as she walked into the streets heading to the Silver Dragon. Someone greeted her with a wave, but she didn't even notice. Her thoughts were one way: Caleb. She sighed as she entered the Silver Dragon. Politely, she said hello to Hay Lin's parents and gave them her parents' regards. Then, slowly, with her backpack on, she headed to Hay Lin's room. Cornelia knocked lightly and then she entered the room, without waiting for an answer. She was happy to see Tara and to hear her voice; even though Caleb was probably in danger, and Cornelia missed him a lot... Her friends never left her. She said Hello and threw her backpack near Tara's bag. In it, she put also some material for some homeworks; her mom made her do so... Maybe she hoped that the girls were studying that night... So vain. "What did you do to your cheek, Hay-Hey?" -Cornelia said, finally noticing a small star or something like that. At last, after long time, she smiled.

Taranee was the first to return for their fake sleepover, bag in tow. "Yap, probably," Hay Lin shrugged. She couldn't be totally sure what Will was doing, but she was sure she'd come back. They sort of needed her to get their Guardian on, and she knew that; she would show up eventually. Maybe her mom was just giving her a hard time. She tossed a purple t-shirt to the side and gave up on her vague search, sitting down on her bed. "Oh that. Well, what else was I gonna do with all of that eyeliner?" she asked, smiling at Cornelia. The blonde had been the second one to arrive, and had evidently noticed her latest art project. Hay Lin was a firm believer in finding new uses for things. If all they ever did was exactly what they were supposed to do, there would be no creativity. Eyeliner didn't just make eyes more dramatic, just like legwarmers worked well on arms as well as legs. It was just a matter of being aware of the possibilities.

Alll of a sudden Taranee felt her cell phone vibrate in her pocket and she pulled it out. It was a text from a phone number that she didn't recongize.
I wonder who this is?
[Text]Hey Taranee this is Nigel from school. Your friend Martin gave me your phone number. I hope you don't mind me texting you. I'm board so I was just wondering what you were up to :^)
Tara couldn't think of anyone she knew named Nigel. Could it be that tall boy in her History class? Maybe the one in Math class with the black hair?
"Hay Lin do you know anyone named Nigel that goes to Sheffield?"

The name felt vaguely familiar in her crowded brain, but she couldn't quite place it, so rather than lie, she shook her head. "Not that I can think of. D'you know him, Cornelia?" she asked, turning around to look at the blonde. Generally speaking, when it came to knowing people, Cornelia was the one to go to. Not that the rest of them didn't have friends and network, but Cornelia had them all beat in terms of actual knowledge. If important guardian matters ever rested on painting, Hay Lin would be all over it. Until that time, she deferred to the experts in various subjects and backed them up with enthusiastic thumbs up. "Why?" She spun back around to look at Taranee. Being someone who rushed into things, the full list of who, what, when, where, and why that most people asked straight away never occurred to her until later.

Cornelia smiled as she saw Tara reading a text message from her cell phone, and asking who Nigel could be. Either she was blind, or she was really too busy with study not to notice such an obvious thing. "Quite strange you don't know him" -Cornelia said, crossing her legs and looking at the girls, amused- "He's always gazing at you, at school!" She laughed, taking her by surprise and getting the cell phone from her hands, reading the text, then she softly snorted "How in the World you two never noticed how that tall guy with brown hair, and cerulean eyes, and always dressed up with a totally out sweatshirt looks at Tara!?" -She threw the cell phone back to Taranee. "He's totally smitten with you, Tara...!" -Cornelia said. At that moment, talking about small and stupid things such as 'Nigel' and love, and school, seemed the best way to forget that actually they were going to risk their lives soon. And probably, they were going to risk even more... Her thoughts went to Caleb once again. She never had the possibility to text him, or to go for a walk, or do 'normal' things. But she wasn't normal at all... That was it, and silently, she suffered that really much.

[Enter Irma]
Irma opened the door to Hay Lin's bedroom and walked in.
"Hey guys! Did--" Irma stopped.
Irma gazed around the room and realized that Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin had already arrived.
"Oh, you're all here... Well I guess I'm the late one again, huh?" Irma sighed and sat down on Hay Lin's bed. "So what are we talking about? Any news from Will?"

Taranee took back her phone from Cornelia and looked down at it. It wasn't as if Cornelia was trying to make fun of her, but nethertheless Tara still felt a little embarassed. With school, family, and all of this guardian business she hadn't really noticed that a boy was giving her attention. After all, no boy had never shown any interest in her before she moved to Heatherfield and quite honestly she wasn't sure what to do. She texted back a quick message:
[Text] Hey Nigel I'm just at my friend Hay Lin's house. Were having a sleepover. What are you up to?
Taranee was so deep in thought that she didn't notice that Irma had entered the room.

"What's that Taranee? Who did you text?" Irma said as she looked over Taranee's shoulder to get a better look at her phone. "Is it Will?"

"No it's actually Nigel from school." Tarane quickly tried to divert the conversation away from herself "We havent heard from Will yet. Do you think I should text her?"

"You actually are, Irmy" -Cornelia said- "Treading Water as always...". Cornelia looked at Tara waiting for her answer, but she suddenly focused on Will... And Cornelia realized that the situation wasn't so nice... Nigel had been a big distraction and she totally forgot about Will and the museum... "Yes, we should" -She answered Tara's question, nodding- "Being late is not her thing" And Cornelia didn't say that, but she was really worried.

"I have her number. I'll call her."
Taranee took her phone and opened up the contacts list. She scrolled all the way to the bottom and dialed Will Vandom. She put it on speaker phone so everyone could hear
