"Of course." Vathek nodded. "It'd just look too suspicious if he'd find me here of all places. And besides, that way he would surely notice you. But I'm not trying to tell you what to do, princess. I'm just making a suggestion."

"Well, you're not exacly doing a master's job at avoiding suspicion, really..." Elyon replied in a mocking voice. "But okay. Let's do it your way. As long as I can get back here in time..."

"Wonderful, my lady!" Vathek came up with one fancy word after another. "Let's go! Um, that wasn't very polite, now was it? Oh, you'll have to excuse me - as a warrior I'm not very good at this."
"Oh, and one more thing before we go, princess." Vathek remembered. "I'm not exactly a magician, but if you want to be invisible - or at least less visible, just close your eyes and imagine the world without yourself in it. That's just in case you didn't know it yet."
"Now, shall we go?"

Elyon's lips formed into a gleeful smile. She didn't have the faintest desire to turn any more invisible than she already was. The dark of night would conceal her enough for Vathek to try and pull off his stunt, but she had no intention of helping his odds much more than that...
Besides, she already knew how to turn invisible... "I don't need your advice..." She whispered, before slowly following the galhot into the forest...

[Enter: Lord Cedric from the Main Gate]
Cedric walked into the clearing. It was quiet here. Too quiet. The only ones disrupting the silence were the birds, chirping around. Cedric sighed and closed his eyes, concentrating and getting in touch with the surroundings. That way he could sense all forms of life close to him. Birds, small animals, even insects - but no human being. He opened his eyes.
So Elyon wasn't here. And that wasn't good.
Where could she be? To get into the Castle, she had to cross the Main Gate. Since Cedric spent most of his ''break'' having a pleasant conversation with Vathek in the middle of that gate, it was impossible for Elyon to get through them without getting noticed. She could have tried becoming invisible and sneaking - but for what reason? Maybe she got into the castle while I was in Miranda's Chamber? No, that was impossible - Cedric only spent a few moments there.
"So one thing is obvious." Cedric said. "She didn't go to the castle."
That means she's still in the forest. But why not here? More importantly - the chances of her meeting Vathek were... quite big. Maybe... No. No, with the new Elyon being as annoyingly clever and selfish as she was, there was no way she'd have believed an open minded fool like Vathek. I'm doing my best to make her close her eyes to reality. She wouldn't suspect us enough because she doesn't want to.
"Elyon, where are you?" Cedric asked playfully. No response. He looked around again and sat down. There was nothing better to do anyway.

[Enter: Elyon from the palace's Main gates]
Finally, Elyon stumbled upon the open area again... Cedric was already there, off course... Really, she should've gone back here as soon as she saw him head this way...
"Cedric!" She called, trying to sound surprised. "You're back!"

"Yes, princess." Cedric bowed. "Something... unexpected happened during my break that forced me to return. If it's not a secret... what were you doing while I was away?"

She really felt like telling Cedric everything Vathek said and watch how the big blue man would get into trouble for it... But she somehow didn't do it... "Well uhm... Nothing much..." Elyon said, a bit clumsy. "I was..."She sighed for a moment. Cedric would never buy anything she's tell him at this point... "I went to find you, Cedric... I wanted to run into you on your way back..."

"For what reason, my princess?" Cedric asked. "Did something happen?"
If you accidentally bumped into a big blue lunatic, I don't want to hear it.

Elyon hesitated for just a moment. She could still spill the beans right now. "No. Nothing happened..." Too late... "I just think we should call it quits for the day... You seem really stressed out about everything... I shouldn't claim all of your time like this." She tried hard to sound convincing and kind. Most of all, she tried to sound like someone who didn't just hear everything he said, including his slip of the tongue... "I hoped to find and tell you that before you got all the way back here..."

"Elyon..." Cedric said the name as friendly as he could. "Trust me when I say - things were much worse before you came into my life. I can gladly exchange training and fighting into lessons here, with you." Then Cedric decided to be a bit more honest and added,"There is one thing that... troubles me from time to time, princess. You seem to have... changed in a way. Somehow you are starting to act more like Phobos. We used to be friends, but what are we now? A master and a servant?"

Elyon laughed nervously. "You're such a joker, Cedric!" she insisted. "Off course we're not master and servant." She quickly dropped the fake laugh and accompanying smile. They weren't going to make anyone feel better... "I'm just a bit tense lately... With Phobos acting up and my friends turning out to--" Really smooth Elyon... Calling their hated enemies 'my friends' was absolutely gonna make Cedric feel better about himself... "--The girls, turning out to be my enemies..." she corrected herself.

Elyon's words gave Cedric a neat idea. But he still wasn't sure if she was prepared for it.
"I understand, Elyon." He smiled. "They are your enemies, they tricked you and kept you away from where you belong. That was wrong. And that's why you are fighting for the truth. It shouldn't be vengeance that's driving you - vengeance only brings corruption and arrogance. Besides, it may weaken your resolve in dire situations."
Cedric chuckled "Oh, forgive me. I'm preaching again. I guess it's because I'm a bit bored. For quite some time, I was thinking about... making an interesting trip. A trip to your old... home. Would you like that, Elyon? We'd certainly run into some old... friends of ours there."

"You're saying that as if Phobos would actually allow it..." Elyon sighed. She sat down next to Cedric and leaned her head in her hands... "Last 'visit' was a total disaster and ever since then, Phobos has been calling me too 'inexperienced' to do anything... You were there when he said that, right?"

"Phobos doesn't know anything about you." Cedric put his hand on Elyon's shoulder. "But I do. And I believe you are prepared. I mean, what is there that you can't do? Shapeshifting? Flying? Deceitful tactics, nothing more. You know more than enough to be capable."
"Besides," he saidd in a warm voice."I'll be there for you, just like I always am."
