souls don't particularly have to deal with religion. How do you think we live? Why do you think that humans don't walk around like empty shells? We have spirit and energy and morality and compassion-our souls

and does that neccessarily have to be because that we have a soul? humans are a biological machineby electrical impulses. would a machine need a so called soul? soul is something we have invented, mostly religions have invented. and if we now had a soul where is it then? free floating in the air? in our body? somewhere else?

Yes.
Humans are not biological machines. We are flesh & blood.
No, I prefer my machines remain lifeless objects as they are. The last thing I need is for my refrigerator to charge me money for the storage of food.
Since you obviously don't know, I'll tell you. Your soul is your personality. It's what makes you alive. Without out it, you'd be nothing but a lifeless heap of flesh & bones (aka--a corpse). Seeing how you were able to post a response, that's proof enough that you still have a soul.
Your soul is in your body. Where in your body? All over. If you must pinpoint it exactly, then I'd say it's in the heart. The heart pumps your spirit all over your body via your blood.

Umm, the fact taht you said we are not biological machines, but flesh an blood made me laugh, we in fact are biological machines, made by god or not be we are biological machines, just more advanced versions to the animals. Now about the soul, my theory of it is something not told yet, the soul is the energy that keeps the human alive, the human body holds enough energy to keep his house running with electricity for 50 or so years and it is not all in electrical energy, all of us have an energy that we can't measure or have a name for yet for example our life energy, i guess that energy can be called a soul

i like your reasoning Tom. that for sure could work as an explanation i can accept. then the term soul wouldn't mean the most pure part of our personality or something strange like that, but the amount of life force that keeps us alive.

I think a soul seperate humans from animals. I love ani8mals and I think that they are intelligent, but humans are different.

yeah, but would animals do the same if they "evolve a bit more"? Although we are mammals, I don't agree with the fact that we are just animals who are a little bit smarter. That's like believing in Sigmund Freud's many theories that we always are obsessed with our animals instincts and sexual stuff and other crap. There is so much more to a human than some people seem to understand, which is a very sad thing indeed

Well I believe that we are images of God, therefore we're more than just animals.
