This is something i wrote today, i think i will continue the story, but would like to ask what you think of it and do you think i should continue with it.
EDIT: It actually should be paragraphed, but for some reason it doesnt go paragraphed here, when i copy it from microsoft word.
Chapter 1
The apprentice returns
An old bearded man was sitting in his quarters, the room was lit by several candles that had blue flames, there were portraits in the room with fancy frames and there was three antique chairs in the room as well an antique bed. The old man was at least sixty he had a medium length grey beard, he had blue eyes and long grey hair he had a steel staff with runes engraved in it on his lap and seemed worried, really worried.
Suddenly a younger man walked in through the door, he had a huge scar across his face, one of his eyes were black and the other green, he was in his thirties, he was in a green hooded robe and a sheathed sword on his side.
“Hello Geralt, haven’t seen you in year, what was so important that you had to call me here and said that I had to rush otherwise it might be too late?” said the young man to Geralt.
“What I have called you here for is a matter of the up most importance Rothen” replied Geralt. “Do you remember Angelina?” asked Geralt after a small pause.
“Yes, she was the seer we went to see 20 or so years back, she made some kind of prophecy didn’t she?” answered Rothen with annoyance.
“Well, if you remembered your apprentice days better, you would remember what the prophecy was about, I distinctly remember telling you to remember everything she had said” said Geralt with a smug voice
“Stop wasting my time old man” said Geralt to Rothen with an angry voice
“Oh believe me what I called you here for is no waste of time, I just can’t resist messing with my old student, but to jog your memory about Angelina, she prophesized about a war, she called it the time of a dark ruler” explained Geralt
“Yes, now that I think about it, I remember that crazy prophesy, I also remember you telling me what kind of bullnuts seers usually talked about” replied Rothen more calmly this time.
“Well, I found proof about what she told us, I heard about the king planning to go to war with the elves and dwarves, I didn’t believe it at first, but with a little investigating I managed to found out that he is a powerful mage that drabbles in black magic, he uses it to give himself more power and as you know black magic is banned from the kingdom and I believe the story about the war is also true” said Geralt with a serious tone.
“You got to be kidding me, that can’t be true, I’ve worked for him personally he is a really nice guy” replied Rothen with a surprised tone.
“Don’t be naive Rothen, the king has always been an evil man, you said yourself that you had worked for him you must have noticed the darkness in him” said Geralt
Rothen fell silent for awhile and fell in thought, could what he thought he saw actually happened.
“Maybe” was the only thing Rothen managed to say before the door got broken down and twenty or so king’s guards walked through the doorway.
“We have an order for the execution of Geralt of Trombaum, the second son of Vesemir, you will be executed on site without a trial” said the guard captain formally.
The other guards drew their swords or readied there crossbows.
“May I ask on what charges” asked Rothen
“The charges are conspiring against the kingdom and it’s people and murdering the seer Angelina with black magic” said the guard captain.
The guards with crossbows aimed at Geralt, but Rothen moved in front of Geralt and stood there arms wide open.
“Sir, may I ask you to move or we will have to execute you as well” said the captain annoyed.
“Step away, no point both of us becoming fugitives, just remember meet me at the rock of Esthelin in 3 days time” whispered Geralt.
“Wait, fugitives, what do you mean?” whispered Rothen back at the old man while stepping away from in front of him.
“FIRE!!!” shouted the guard captain and the 5 guards with crossbows sent accurate shots at Geralt’s heart, but before the bolts could get there Geralt managed to hit the ground with his staff and disappear in a puff of smoke.
Rothen understood straight away what Geralt had done, but the guards were baffled.
“How did he disappear, not even the strongest magicians have the ability to appear and disappear where they want?” asked the guard captain holding a sword to Rothen’s throat.
Rothen knew what Geralt had done, but he couldn’t tell the truth to the guards if he wanted Geralt to be safe. “If, I had to guess, I would say he used some of that black magic you were talking about earlier” answered Rothen.
“I guess you are right, but what is your role in all of this?” asked the captain suspiciously.
“I am just here for a visit, Geralt used to be my master and teacher and I had not seen him for years” said Rothen calmly.
“I got to report this to the king, I should bring you to him as well, just in case, wouldn’t want to go chasing after you as well” said the captain.
“Well, you really don’t have to bring me to him as I am a spellsword that has been in his service multiple times now and he trusts me” replied Rothen.
The guard lowered the sword from Rothen’s throat. “Still, I should ask him, before letting you leave” said the guard suspiciously.
“And how are you going to do that? I got to go and see a man about a task I was originally sent here to do, it’s not like I have time to go all the way to the palace” said Rothen.
“That’s no problem sir, we have a mage here incase Geralt decided to fight back, he is disguised in a guard’s uniform, he can make contact with the king’s advisor and report to the king” answered the captain.
“Actually, I have already reported to the king and about the mental picture of Rothen he said that he knew him and he has worked for him and asks for you to let him go” said a old man in a guard uniform.
“See” said Rothen smugly.
“Ok, you can go” said the captain with a defeated voice
“Oh, before I go, are you and the king’s advisor both trained in telepathy” asked Rothen.
“Yes, we both have the basic mage training but specialize in telepathy” answered the mage.
“What a boring specialization, you wouldn’t have done anything against a black wizard anyway and the king should know that, so why did he ask you to come along?” asked Rothen.
“I am not as weak as you might think” answered the mage.
“Maybe or maybe the king actually knew Geralt wasn’t a black wizard, but only an old wizard that hadn’t fought with magic for years, in any case I doubt you find him anymore” said Rothen
“And why is that Sir Rothen” asked the captain.
“Well, because he is the smartest person I know and he knows how do hide himself very well, I remember from my apprentice days, anyway I got to go now so if you let me out, I will be on my way” answered Rothen with a smile.
“Wait, if he wasn’t black wizard how did he disappear, we both know that is impossible without tremendous amounts of power” said the mage.
“Well, if I had to guess he was prepared for this and has a tunnel and a trapdoor here and did a performers trick with a simple smoke spell for you” answered Rothen.
The guards were dumbfounded, because any of them didn’t think of that before, they didn’t even notice Rothen leaving because they all started searching for a trap door and when they found it and opened it, one of them screamed “Eureka!” Rothen from far away laughed at that and hoped Geralt had gotten away safely.
3 days and the rock of Esthelin then, quite a walk from here, I should get a horse and some supplies from the town and go, if I don’t want to be late.
