Quickly enough the portal shrunk and vanished. Aparently, someone closed it from the other side.

Caleb blinked with disbelief. The portal got... closed? How... Why? Why would they close probably the last portal, leading back to Meridian? If it would be the princess alone, Caleb would have believed it. But lord Cedric? No, something was definitely wrong. But the portal was gone - so were Caleb's hopes of following the duo to Earth. Disappointment soon crippled his mind and for a while, he couldn't come up with any decent thoughts. He should have jumped right in and worry about the consequences later. No, no. He should have... It was too late for that. The portal was closed, so what's the point of staying here? It didn't help Caleb. He still couldn't calm down. Such a perfect chance... Of course, not as perfect as the one he had fifteen minutes ago. That's how far will you go with honor. Caleb thought. But even so, he was happy he didn't kill Cedric back then. Somehow, he felt cleaner and lighter. But angry and left out at the same time. "What the hell." He whispered. "What the hell is wrong with them?" No answer to that question, apparently. Caleb sighed and went back to... where? To the camp... or to the castle? The castle, of course. Even with Cedric gone there were plenty of targets. Who knows, maybe with the snake out of the way, he'll manage to cause some trouble. Maybe even burn down the library - something he failed to do a long time ago.

For those who haven't noticed, Caleb went to The Mountains--not the castle. Belac smirks happily after the portal closes. Now he had an excuse for not following Elyon. If he ever chose to return to the castle, that is... He hears someone whisper nearby & silently creeps to investigate. Belac: Caleb! His first impulse is to fry the rebel leader with a laser blast, but changes his mind before giving away his position. Belac: Why bother? He's not the rebel leader anymore--just some thug with a few followers. He's no threat to my plans. *waits a few minutes until Caleb is gone & out of sight* Besides, I have bigger fish to fry.He sneaks away, clearing his tracks along the way (to prevent anyone from noticing he was there).
