[Guardians^: Enter from Valley of Light] They block off (cave-in, quicksand, lava, etc.) various paths through the mountain so that anyone trying to get to the peace field (without flying) would have to go through the Larvaks Field.

[Rebel Army: Enter from Rebel Base in the Infinite City] They reach the main path through the mountains only to find it blocked by a pool of lava. Wali: "We'll have to find an alternate route to the Valley of Light." He sends scouts to look for an open path through the mountains.

[Enter: Caleb from the Courtyard]
It didn't take Caleb long to reach the mountains, for he knew the forests of Meridian better than anyone else - except, of course, the animals and birds. So he stopped here, near a small spring of clear water to rest and gather his thoughts. Caleb still felt fairly weak, but it was getting better. The cold wind with a scent of winter from atop the mountains and the beautiful sight of nature was like healing light to his tired, scarred body. Caleb drank from the spring and cold water flowed through him, reawakening him from inside. He smiled sadly. The life was wrong many ways, but definitely worth living as long as one can experience such wonderful moments. Caleb lay down on the ground, looking at the sky with that same sad smile on his face. Other people remember things in such moments, he thought. But Caleb didn't have many beautiful memories. The only good things that came to his life after he finally became free, were the people - the rebels, the sense of victory and freedom, those rare moments of happiness among flowing rivers of blood. Caleb closed his eyes. He really wanted to think about the one that changed everything. But he was afraid. For some reason, he tried to avoid the topic as much as possible. Caleb forced himself to remember one thing after another, just to keep the inevitable at bay - he didn't know why. Or maybe he did. "With the death..." He whispered."Always following me wherever I go... I'm too afraid." Yes, he was afraid. Caleb's life wasn't so valuable to him before he met... No, no, don't think about it. He was just fighting, considering death the most likely ending. He felt guilty for all the crimes he committed before joining the rebellion. Sometimes, when everything seemed hopeless, he even wanted to die. How many times did he sneak into the castle just to meet death and everything? And yet, every single time, the voice of life was stronger. But Caleb still considered death a friend. Not anymore. Now, he didn't want to die, no matter what. Caleb knew that the fear of death might weaken someone in the battle fray. But he couldn't change anything. His life became too valuable all of a sudden. The sun freed itself from the clouds and Caleb stood up and picked up the soldier's sword. It was a heavy rusted sword, too uncomfortable and blunt to be a good weapon. But it had to do. Now, when Caleb finally rested enough, he looked around and noticed some tracks - a large group of people passed here recently. He studied the tracks carefully and learned that they all were wearing different shoes - and they were light, not like the heavy boots the soldiers preferred. So this large group... They could have been workers or the citizens, but... Even in that case, Caleb still decided to follow them and find everything out himself. "If it's the rebels,"Caleb said "Then what are they doing here?"

After a short while of tracking, Caleb discovered the hidden path to the larvaks field. Apparently, the rebels were there, totally clueless about the place. Caleb, on the other hand, knew what to expect. But still, the footprints were very fresh - so he needed to act fast.
"What's wrong with the world?" Caleb asked. "I can't even enjoy a quiet moment of resurrection."

[Enter: Vathek from the Forest]
It seems Caleb stopped here, Vathek thought, observing the ground. He also found the rebel's tracks, leading to the larvak's field. Apparently, Caleb followed them and so did Vathek.

[Enter: Caleb and 2 rebels from the Courtyard]
Caleb led his remaining followers - no, friends - to a small valley in the mountains. It was surrounded by tall mountains and only a small passage, well hidden among tall trees could lead one here. Caleb discovered this place a long time ago and intended to turn it into the rebel base, but one thing stopped him - women and children wouldn't have managed to reach this place, not to talk about actually living here - it was extremely cold and only the strongest of men could survive here. Well, only the strongest of men were with him now, so Caleb didn't have any doubts anymore.
They reached the middle of the valley and stopped there. "We'll make camp here." Caleb said, observing the rebels and looking for any signs of weakness. To his surprise, their eyes were burning with determination. Caleb smiled unwillingly. Maybe they still can change something, make things better. "Alright. There are plenty of trees around, so use them to make the tents. Make sure that Phobos' winged spies wouldn't be able to discover them."
The rebels nodded. Three of them had axes with them and soon they started chopping trees down. At the same time, Caleb made sure to clear the trail they left. He didn't expect anyone to follow them all the way up here, but they still had to be careful.
After that was done, Caleb went back to the rebels, to see how are they doing. Since only three had axes, the rest made a campfire and gathered around it.
"Well." Caleb sat down with them. "Let's talk." "About what?" One of them said bitterly. "About our plans... perhaps?" "Yeah." The rebel answered, looking down. "Let's come up with the best way to die." "Don't talk like that." An old rebel replied. "At least we have Caleb now." "That's not gonna change anything. In the end, we'll die all the same." "Shut up!" the old rebel slapped his shoulder. "If that's all you can think of, why did you come with us? All is not lost!" "No, he's right." Caleb said quietly. "Or at least he's closer to the truth than you are. There's only 21 of us. Sure, we all here are brave, strong and determined. That's why we are stronger than an entire army of weaklings - like those we left behind. But still, our chances of winning against Phobos, Cedric and their minions - and the princess' magic too - our chances are almost invisible." "That's what I'm talking about."The negative rebel replied, staring at his blade. "What's your name?" Caleb asked. "Goenn." The rebel sighed. "But you can call me Corpse. I feel like one." "Shut up, I say!" The veteran slapped him again. "No one asked you to come. You could have stayed - if you're that afraid of death." "Now don't get me wrong - I'm not afraid." Goenn smiled. "I don't fear death and I am willing to do what's necessary to win. I'm smarter than all those idiots who stayed behind to die. And I have honor too. I swore to Caleb and so I'll follow him to hell, if I have to. No one can accuse me of being a coward or a traitor. But I know the obvious outcome. I'm not someone who believes in miracles. And I know that we'll die." Gaenn was trembling. Maybe it was because of the cold. Maybe not. "A strong will." Caleb said quietly. "I like that. And I agree - our days are over. Our struggle won't bring us victory. But at least it'll bring us freedom. Along with death." A moment of silence. "What about the guardians?" The veteran asked. "Perhaps they will help us?" "No way." Caleb shook his head. "This is our war. As much as I'd like to have the guardians on our side, there's no way in hell I'm gonna ask for their help. I don't want to drag them into this too. If we'll die, we'll die alone." Another moment of silence. Everyone was looking down. Death, the most possible ending, crawled into their hearts and made everything look blacker. "Alright, that's enough." Caleb interrupted the silence. "There will be a time for such thoughts. Right now, we have to do what we can to win." "Right." The rebels answered together. There was enough wood to start making tents, so everyone started working.

[Blunk: Enter from The River] Blunk: "Oh, look!" ;D "Blunk find rebels just like Caleb told him too." *goes to rebels by fire* "Alright you lazy rebels, come with me! We must go now!" Random Rebel 1: "Go screw yourself." Blunk: "Maybe latter, but not now. Come, we must go to the river." Random Rebel 2: *tosses a bar of soap at Blunk's head* "How bout you go back to the river & take a bath?" Blunk: "Blunk no need bath." *stands proudly* "Blunk second in command." The rebels laugh disbelievingly.

"He's right." Caleb said. "He is the second-in-command. As of today. Like all of you, he was one of the few to have enough brains to understand which banner to stand under." "It's risky to leave such power in the hands of an imbecile." Goenn smiled. "But I like it." "He's not an imbecile." Caleb smiled too. "At least I'd like to believe that. Okay, everybody back to work, it'll warm you up. I'll join you in a few moments."
The rebels continued building tents as Caleb approached Blunk. "I'm surprised." He said coldly. Caleb didn't want to speak with Blunk this way in front of everyone, but now they were alone. "I gave you an order to rally the rebels and lead them to the forest. With that nose of yours, it shouldn't have been too much of a problem. And yet you fail to find a huge mob of rebels in the most obvious place, but succeed in finding this hideout. If I wouldn't know you for so long, I'd think that you're hiding something from me." Caleb observed Blunk's reaction for a while, and then continued. "Nevermind. I found the rebels myself. And you can very well see what was the result. So if they didn't listen to me, they wouldn't have listened to you too. You actually would have had more chances if you weren't second-in-command." Caleb started playing with his dagger. "Alright." He said. "From now on, I'm done believing in people. And I'm done saving them when all they do is getting in the way. So now I decided to change the way we'll do things. Your new orders, Blunk - go to the castle and gather information about the princess and her loyal dog - Cedric."

Blunk: "Get information on the Light of Meridian & her cute, little puppy?" *salutes* "Consider it done. Blunk not disappoint you again." *starts to walk away* "Hm... Now where did Blunk stash doggie biscuits?"

"I'm sure that doggie biscuits can wait, Blunk." Caleb said seriously. "It's the freedom of Meridian we're talking about. Besides, I need that information as soon as possible, if I am to kill Cedric before the day is over."

"Oh yes." Caleb nodded. "According to what Vathek said, he's the princess' best friend. Or the best liar. I think... maybe if we'd take him out, the princess would open her eyes and we'd win this war without fighting it."
Caleb walked around in a circle, with a new idea forming in his mind. "You know what - nevermind. It looks like the rebels here have everything under control. So I'll go myself." He waved his arms, attracting everyone's attention. "I'm going... on a scouting mission, everyone. Make sure the camp's ready when I return." "A scouting mission?"one rebel repeated. "Just that - and nothing else?" "We'll see." Caleb smiled mysteriously. "I can't tell that for sure. Anyway, this is an order - carry it out." The rebels quietly obeyed and got back to work, not paying attention to Caleb anymore. "I'm giving you a different mission." Caleb told Blunk. "Go and find Vathek - you know, the blue guy. Talk with him, see where his loyalties lie. If he's on our side, bring him here - but make sure that no one follows you. If he's not - just get back here and report." Caleb picked up a bow from the ground and finished. "Go now - as fast as you can, for we have no time to lose."
Then he disappeared among the trees.
