Elyon narrowed her eyes as she looked at her brother. As if she tried to immitate him, and read his mind. She failed however, and only saw how Phobos went back into his train of thought... "What are you planning, Phobos?" she repeated. Even though she failed at reading his mind, even Uriah could tell Phobos didn't just ask her about the boy 'just because'...

He expression doesn't change as he continues to stare at the pool & thinks of her question.
Phobos: She's starting to get suspicious. That's not a good sign. Perhaps avoiding her while making Lord Cedric take care of her was the wrong tactic? If she gets too suspicious, I'll loose two advantages that are essential for my future plans: her trust & her affection. If she doesn't trust me, then my lies won't be able to fool her anymore. If she stops loving me as her brother, then she may choose to side with her friends, the guardians. I can't afford to loose either. *glances at Elyon* Even if I risk being enchanted by her beauty, I need to pretend to act like a loving brother & spend more time with her. "Dear, dear Ellie..." *places his left arm beneath her knees & places his right hand behind her back to prevent her from falling when he lifts her up, then gently picks her up to hold her in his arms* "Why must you interrogate your brother so?"
He starts to walk toward the throne.

"Whaa!" Elyon yelled in a startled fashion. "Put me down! You're being weird!" she proceeded, attempting to release herself from her brother's affectionate grasp.
"I'm not some little kid, you know!" Elyon remarked, as soon as she got back on her own two feet. "But in answer to your question: I have a few reasons... It's not like you to just ask me a random question, you've been acting weird all evening and..." Phobos' sister crossed her arms as she pulled her lips into a mischievous grin. "... This time you're the one avoiding the question."

The shock on his face when Elyon leaps out of his arms is obvious.
Phobos: Am I really so disgusting to be around that she has to risk her own safety just to get away from me? Even Will showed a more favorable reaction, and she hates my guts.
He manages to recover his senses by the time she finishes her question.
Phobos: "That's because I don't have an answer to give." *returns to the pool & sits down to watch with a little more comfort* "Any plan I make depends on the result of this encounter & the after effects that are almost certain to follow tomorrow. As such, my plan is incomplete & I cannot reveal it until it is." (telepathy to Jarod) How goes things at the ballroom?
Jarod: Everything is going as planned, my master. I sent the fool Alaric away so he couldn't be a witness when I accused the guardians of killing your sister. I sent Vathek to the kitchen to keep him in the dark. I even hit on Elyon so that she'd feel uncomfortable & leave the room.
Phobos: Continue...
Jarod: Things went exactly as you predicted she felt so awkward & out of place that she became invisible & left the room. I locked up the ballroom, then accused the guardians of killing Elyon. The stupid soldiers believed everything I said. All except Boromier, of course. As suspected... He stopped me from harming the guardians as soon as he realized what they were. The rebel spy was forced to reveal himself.
Phobos: Well done. What of Lord Cedric?
Jarod: Miranda was an excellent distraction. Cedric was so busy dancing with her that he did not notice Elyon disappear. When the vengeful Cedric gives the orders to kill the guardians, the next phase begins. The guardians will either attack & prove to Elyon that they're evil beings or they will die & be gone forever. Either way, we win.
Phobos: Indeed... And you'll be glad to know that the rebels took the bait. Alaric informed me that a small group of rebels are waiting outside the ballroom doors. When the guardians are dealt with, bring me Caleb's head on a silver platter & you shall be the new captain of my elite soldiers.
Jarod: Speaking of the captain, how did the guard gain laser eyes? I don't recall Kushiel ever having such an ability.
Phobos: Kushiel is dead. The one who punished the ex-captain for secretly giving food to unworthy cretins is your competition. He also seeks to be the new captain & has his own trap to spring, should you fail...
Jarod: I won't.
Phobos: That remains to be seen. If the rebels have gathered in force & surrounded the castle as I expected, then they'd be too busy watching the castle for Caleb's signal to notice the odd looking rocks that I had placed just outside my rose garden all around the castle. When the Larvecks hatch less than 30 minutes from now, the rebellion shall be crushed. The guardians must not interfere!
Jarod: I will do my best to prevent that from happening, my lord.
Phobos: You better! *cancels the link* So far, everything has gone as planned except for one. I had assumed Elyon would simply go to her room & cry on her bed. And yet... *glances at his sister* The little angel came to visit me.
He can't help but feel a little guilty for deceiving her & ruining tonight's ball.

"Okay. Then it's a deal!" Elyon said, as she followed her brother to the pool, took his hand and forced a shake. "You'll give me the answer tomorrow!" Releasing the man's hand before he even had the time to properly understand what deal Elyon actually forced on him, she took a few steps back, folded her hands behind her back and looked innocently at the prince, as suddenly she felt a sudden sensation from her stomach...
"Oh, that's right!" she said, smiling awkwardly. "Some officer called Varteck was about to bring dinner before I left, so I suppose it's only natural to get a little hungry now..." Dinnertime... Elyon wasn't even sure if she even had lunch today, so she certainly could go for a bite right now... She turned around, made two steps towards the doors, then stopped and looked back at Phobos. "Are you coming?"

Elyon: "Okay. Then it's a deal!" *followed her brother to the pool, took his hand and forced a shake* "You'll give me the answer tomorrow!" Phobos: "W-wha...?" What just happened? What's so special about tomorrow?Elyon: *took a few steps back, folded her hands behind her back and looked innocently at the prince, as suddenly she felt a sudden sensation from her stomach...* "Oh, that's right! Some officer called Varteck was about to bring dinner before I left, so I suppose it's only natural to get a little hungry now..." *turned around, made two steps toward the doors, then stopped and looked back at Phobos* "Are you coming?" Phobos: "No." Should I try to stop her? Jarod's plan will fail if she returns to the ballroom now. And yet... There's always Plan B. "But would it hurt to hug your brother before you go? It's not everyday that a prince has the honor of being visited by his sister."

"You're not coming?" Elyon asked, not sure if she heard him right... "But you can't skip out on dinner! Besides, I'm sure the guests will want to see you, at least for a moment. and there's this soldier who wanted to ask you some stuff, so there's no reason for you not to come, right?"

Phobos: If I remember my meeting with Cedric correctly, she was the one who was supposed to speak with our guests--not me. "Whoever these guests may be, I'm sure they can wait. Rebels are coming to the ball & I am in no mood to give them a chance to make an assassination attempt. As far as this soldier is concerned, he can ask his questions to you. I trust you. I'm sure you'll be fine." He senses Miranda's thoughts about Will being covered in mud & gives Miranda a telepathic suggestion (which is a suggestion from him that she thinks is her own idea) to have Jarod wash Will.

"He already did..." Elyon mumbled... Why was Phobos making all these excuses anyway? He had his ballroom filled with soldiers. Not to mention, Cedric was there to aid, should things get out of hand with the rebels... "You're right though. The guests can wait. But dinner can't. Come on, Phobos. You can't just sit here all night!"

Phobos: "Oh yes I can. This is my castle & I can do whatever I want." Miranda's sudden surge of anguish kicks Phobos from her thoughts. Phobos: Something went wrong...? If those guardians run off without supervision, they are bound to cause trouble! I must go to the castle ballroom at once! "And luckily for you, I'm starting to feel a little hungry myself." *walks up to her & places a hand on her shoulder* "Let's go."[Phobos: Exit to Halls]

Elyon placed her hands on her sides as she watched the prince turn and head for the door. If only I knew why you're being so weird tonight... She shook her head and decided to leave it for now. Quickly catching up to her brother, she followed him out the throne hall, before he had a chance to close the doors in her face during this absentmindedness of his...

Day 9 Early in the morning
[Enter: Elyon from her dormitory]
Elyon quietly entered Phobos' impressive throne hall again. Clearly, the entire palace was still minding down from last night. She encountered not even a single servant and a mere two sentries, both of which asleep on duty, on her way here. Even the throne hall itself was deserted, much to her surprise... Maybe Phobos was still sleeping, or spending time in the gardens?
At any rate, he wasn't here, which comforted the princess a bit. At least now, when the man would make his inevitable entrance, she could say she waited for him...
Elyon approached the throne and, not caring about approval, permission and consequences, sat down on it in a way that was earilly similar to Phobos himself. She struggled to keep her eyes open and prevent herself from dozing off. After all, the ball lasted all night. They wanted so much from her...
She couldn't stay awake for too long, without anything here to keep her mind of it. And, under the watchful eyes of a few hidden murmerers, dozed off in Phobos' seat of power...

Upon hearing the doors start open, Phobos stops is magic pool watching to go hide behind one of the pillars. He watches. Phobos: What is she doing here so early in the morning? Things at the Vandom house just started to get interesting!Elyon sits on the chair. Phobos: Why that sneaky little brat! How dare she come in my throne room & sit on my chair! He waits until his sister falls asleep, then sneaks up to the throne. Phobos: I'll teach her not to sit on my throne! He casts a spell to make sure she is in a deep sleep, moves her aside, sits on the throne, then puts Elyon on his lap so it looks like Phobos was always there & she merely sat on him because she was too tired to notice he was there. Phobos: She'll be so embarrassed she'll never sit on my throne again. He waits.

Several minutes pass. Elyon, now in a deep sleep instead of a short bit of shut-eye, may very well sleep all day long without anybody here to wake her up. But luckilly enough for her brother, she quickly woke up now.
Slowly opening her eyes, Elyon took a moment to realise Phobos was here now too. Still half-asleep, she didn't catch onto Phobos' intentions at all, and merely asked: "Phobos?"
