"I am afraid there is more than that, your luminous majesty..." Cedric continued, as he reached for the folder again. "I have received the report of the last week. There is plenty of reason to worry, I believe... If I may..."
The big snake quietly opened the folder again to ensure he wouldn't forget to mention anything.
"First, there's the loyalty of the minions, my liege. Never before has it dropped so low. My most trusted sources among the forces have reported that many a soldier is currently quite vulnerable to rebellious thoughts." He paused for a second, then continued at Phobos' short nod. "I have reasons to believe this disloyalty is mostly caused by Frost's defection, roughly a week ago. Even though we dealt with him swiftly, the idea of our most powerful and trusted hunter turning against us has instilled many men with doubts in our cause..." His eyes briefly shifted to the door. Phobos' right-hand man knew very well that the laziness of the prison guards was just one of many ways this disloyalty would surface...
"Secondly, there's the rebellion. Their attacks have diminished quite a lot the past week, but they've become more efficient and organised... I believe Frost not only left our men with disloyalty, but also inspired that band of thugs to think grander and strike harder. And with the guardians on their side, what was once merely a nuisance that could be contained could very well turn into a big threat." Cedric flipped the page as the prince sipped of his wine again, probably already thinking of countermeasures to the ever increasing pile of worries...
"Thirdly are Meridian's resources. To put it quite simply, they are running out. There is some left, but it won't be long before Metamoor can no longer refresh your powers. It would be advisable to carefully utilize the more powerful of your abilities until your sister's coronation. Which brings me to the final point of concern..." The snake now closed his folder... The following subject was on both his and Phobos' minds very often and was the one most noticeable, even- or rather especially -among their high ranks...
"Your sister, my prince... For a moment, I believed to have ensnared her into our service, but it is inescapably clear that she is again filled with..." Cedric thought for a second... He would've liked to say 'doubt', but that wasn't quite the case... "Disobedience..." he decided. "We should act carefully around her. She has shifted from doubt, to our ally to her current mindset extremely quickly. I believe that, if we play it out just right, we might be able to make her our ally once more, and this time fully under our control. But if we're not careful, her disobedience could lead to hostility and rebellion, and needless to say, that could be our undoing..."
For a moment Cedric kept quiet, allowing his master to think for a moment. He then bowed as deep and low as his large body would allow him.
"Please sire... What are your thoughts on these matters?"
