Retaining the smile, Elyon shook her head. "If you're gonna lie to a princess, you should at least put some effort into it." Her eyes turned cold as her mind squeezed Blunk a little more. Admittedly, he looked like a harmless, if smelly, little critter. But she learned the hard way just how decieving appearances can be. "You know what I hate about liars? They're nothing better than traitors. And unfortunately for you, I don't take too kindly of treason anymore..."

"Too late!" Elyon stated, as she walked to the door herself. "I already told you: you had one chance to make yourself believable." She opened the doors the old fashioned way, then called a sentry.
"Your highness?" Excellent! A quick and prompt reaction! This was exacly the kind of soldier she needed. "Take this 'hard working' servant to a holding cell." "Yes, princess!" Elyon smiled. "Don't worry, little guy! If you don't try anything traitorous, I might decide to set you free tomorrow..."
As the guard shackeled the passling, then escorted him to his prison cell, Elyon slowly waved a taunting good-bye. The prospect of being set free without having to do anything for it would be tempting for servant and rebel alike. But Elyon was willing to give Blunk the benefit of the doubt if he wouldn't resist her authority...

A few minutes later...
<This post contains Cedric-ish material, which is okay, since I'm subbing for him>
[Enter: Cedric from Phobos' pool of power]
Elyon saw how the blonde man slowly opened the doors and greeted her with a smile. "Cedric!" she called. "Good evening, your highness." he greeted back. The princess could tell he was kind of nervous... "I was wondering if... Perhaps you... Uhm..." She lifted an eyebrow. "What is it, Cedric?" "Well, I... err... Prince Phobos asked me to take you out for a short trip. I was wondering if you had a destination in mind?" Once again, Elyon's eyes grew cold at the mentioning of her brother's name. Had he learned nothing today? "Well, I must politely decline." she calmly replied, a hint of disapointment was carried on her voice. "Maybe sometime later this week, if he can stop being the world's most stupid brother ever."
Finally, a servant came in to prepare the dining table, so Elyon got up from her seat. "Oh, and if you see Phobos before I do, feel free to tell him I said that. He's already testing my limits. It'd be better for everyone that he stopped doing that." "I... I felt you would say that, Elyon..." Cedric remarked. Not wanting to provoke her, or get on her bad side, he didn't try pushing Phobos' plan any further. Just as he was about to leave, a sentry approached him. "Ah. Here you are, lord Cedric." The guard started. He handed Phobos' right-hand man an official looking document as he continued. "Here's the weekly report, my lord. The scribes finished it just a minute ago. I figured I'd give it to you imediatly." "Thank you." Cedric replied, starting to open the document and reading it. The sentry quickly saluted, then went back to his other duties...

<You know... Ceddy stuff>
Yet another bundle of minutes later, Cedric had decided to sit down in his seat. The one on Phobos' right-hand side, as usual. The servants that had begun running around and preparing the feast were highly distracting, but not enough for the snake to lose sight of the important things... Elyon was busy overseeing the servants and throwing orders at them every now and then. Cedric was amazed at how much change there had been in her mind the past few days. And while that helped him and Phobos in their attempts to controll her, she had adopted a rather defiant mindset lately, which made appraoching and controlling her rather dangerous. By itself, that was reason for worry, but as Cedric was reading through the report handed to him, he knew that it's contents in combination with the princess' defiance, should be on the top of the dangerous situations list...
As soon as Phobos would be done absorbing magic from the world, he would need to hear what was going on in the kingdom... The situation was quite urgent...

[Ceddy stuff going on here]
Elyon looked up to her brother as he came in and sat down. Her eyes filled with defiance and disobediance. Thinking he could get rid of her by sending Cedric in to sweet-talk her into trips to Heatherfield... He's got some nerve, but no ears. Her gaze quickly went back the servants, who were putting up the finishing touches to the table as they prepared to roll in the feast.
Cedric was there too, at Phobos' right-hand side as usual. As Elyon looked away again, he briefly cleared his throat before speaking. "My liege..." he carefully started, ensuring that Phobos knew he was being adressed. "If you have time, there is some important matter we need to discuss after dinner..."

Elyon gave Phobos a quick glare, but said nothing. Finally, the table was all set and the feast was served. As usual, the kitchen workers had worked hard to prepare a vast surplus of food, far too much for Phobos, Cedric and Elyon to finish before dawn.
Elyon remained visibly hesitant to start eating her meal, quickly looking back and forth betwen her plate, her brother and Cedric...

Elyon carefully watched how Phobos started eating. She formed a mischievous smile on her face as she saw how he swallowed his meal. "You!" she called, beckoning a servant. "Your highness?" he asked nervously as he approached the table. Elyon shoved her plate in the man's direction, commanding him to "Taste it!"
Upon hearing Elyon's command, Cedric immediatly stopped chewing. Is she...? "Taste it!" Elyon repeated, in response to the servant's hesitance. "Or would you rather have your beloved princess die of food poisoning?" She gleefully turned her gaze to her brother, eager to await his reaction.

Elyon's glee made way for disappointment. It wasn't so much the fact that he seemed aware of the jab. It was more the fact that this food could very well have been the instrument of his demise, had she not monitored it's preperation... And it's exacly this kind of carelessness that leads to incompetence... "Hurry up! I don't have all night!" she yelled at the servant, who, by now, was shaking with a forkfull in his hand. Hesitantly, he opened his mouth and shoved some food in, chewed about five times, then swallowed, leaving Elyon to patiently await any possible reaction...
Cedric kept looking too. He could only guess why the princess would bring up the topic of food poisoning and hope he was way off. He did, however, know perfectly well that this could be a bad omen if he and Phobos wouldn't remain careful...

Phobos: "So..." *gets up, then walks to the servant, places his hand on his shoulder, & secretly starts to drain his life force* "How's the food?"

The servant started to gasp for air as the prince pulled his very life out of him. But before either one of them could really suffer or enjoy it, the prince was suddenly hit by a wave of energy in the back, after which invisible powers shoved him aside rather forcefully. "Phobos, do you mind!?" Elyon asked annoyed as she lowered her right arm again. Quite obviously, she was responsible for the cheap shot at Phobos' turned back... "I am trying to deal with serious stuff here! It's not the time for your stupid games!" She kept her defiant stare focussed on the shocked prince...
Cedric knew that the servant was thanking his lucky stars for Elyon's intervention, but this quick and decisive responce from her confirmed everything he suspected... If only dinner would be over soon, so he and Phobos could start discussing it in private...
