"Lord Cedric!" One of the soldiers shouted at the worst moment. "The rebel leader appeared in the castle and then escaped!" "That's nice." Cedric replied angrily. "Can't you see I'm busy?" "No, sir, I can't." the soldier smiled. "Then get out of my sight." Cedric said and turned away from the him. "I'm sorry, Elyon, where were we?"

[Enter: Vathek from the Larvaks field]
Go get me a wheelbarrow. Such were Caleb's words. But Vathek had other plans in mind. Plus, he didn't like the fact of dragging someone's body across the city, even if that body was Phobos's. But since he said he'd do it, he'll do it. Only... Vathek wanted to speak with a certain someone and bring him the good news.
"Hey! Someone!" Vathek waved his arms. "Bring me a wheelbarrow! I want it here in two minutes!"
Then, without waiting for an answer, the warrior left.

"Hang on," Vathek told Cedric. "I have to take something." He turned to the soldiers. "Where's the wheelbarrow?" "Right here, sir!" one of the soldiers presented Vathek with the wheelbarrow. "What in the world are you gonna do with that?" Cedric asked. "You'll see." Vathek replied reluctantly. "You'll see." "Whatever." Cedric sighed. "You know, you're getting weirder with every passing minute."
And then they left.

[Enter: Lord Cedric and Prince Phobos from the Larvak's field]
Hrodr, one of veteran soldiers, was just sharpening his weapon and enjoying warm weather. It was quiet everywhere - Phobos, Cedric and Vathek were all away and Elyon was in her chambers, so no one was there to play authorities. The soldiers had the castle all for themselves and everyone was at ease. Jokes and laughter filled the air. The mood seemed to brighten the sky. That's why Hrodr was satisfied and felt twenty years younger. That was until a most disturbing thing happened. First one scream echoed through the air, grabbing Hrodr's heart with cold fingers - yeah, kind of - and then it all started going down fast. Like moths to a flame, all soldiers started running to the castle gates. Even from other locations, more soldiers were swarming in along with nurses and servants. Soon the courtyard was full. "What's wrong with this day?" Hrodr asked himself, slowly standing up on his aching legs. "Can't we all just enjoy a moment of rest?" Then he looked at the gates himself and forgot all about rest - the sight was truly disturbing. Lord Cedric, the fearsome right-hand man of prince Phobos was making his way through the mass, bleeding all over the place. That was the first thing to catch Hrodr's eye - and it was stunning. But when he looked up and saw what Cedric was carrying, he fell to his knees. Prince Phobos, with an arrow in his chest. Seeing the prince in such a miserable state made Hrodr believe that he was dead - and he didn't know what to think.
"Make some room!" Cedric was brutally pushing everyone out of the way with his left hand. "Come on, make some room!" When he lost his patience and showed his impressive throwing skills, everyone finally listened to the order and made some room. "Bring here the nurses!" That order was obeyed even faster, because half of the castle was already here. Then Cedric gently put the prince's body on a nearby table and then turned into his human form. His robes got covered in blood, but Cedric didn't care. "Make sure no one touches the prince!" He ordered. "I'll be back soon!" "But... what about your wounds, sir?" one nurse asked. "Get the hell out of my way." Cedric pushed the nurse aside and went into the castle.

[Enter: Elyon from Elyon's chambers]
Elyon entered the courtyard, where Cedric had left Phobos' body. She couldn't see anything though. The courtyard was filled with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of soldiers, servants and workers all trying to get a glimpse of their beloved- or hated- prince... Everyone was talking loudly, discussing how this could've happened and why... Some of them were lucky Elyon couldn't quite find the face that went with the voice, as the more disloyal workforce clearly voiced their true opinion over the prince during his and Cedric's absence... Disloyal dogs...
"Puh-princess!" someone suddenly said. Someone had noticed her and quickly enough, the entire courtyard was aware of her pressence. It didn't take long for the masses to move and allow her a clear passage to the prince. Elyon didn't say anything, instead letting her cold stare say everything she had to share with these people... Some rejoiced, some cowered and some others swallowed their words. When the princess made the first step, it was such a slow one, such an eerilly calm and cold step forward that some people almost flinched... Why on Metamoor would anyone behave so cold and distant when her brother has just passed away? The cold atmosphere Elyon brought with her had made the mass so silent, one could almost hear a leaf drop on the ground...
When Elyon reached her brother she did nothing but look at how the nurses were handling him... Until she spoke. "You two!" she pointed at a twosome of nurses on her left-hand side. "Go to my room immediatly! Lord Cedric is there and in need of medical attention!" "A-At once, your highness!" The nurses got up and left at once, like ordered, while Elyon turned back to her brother. He looked... Quite pathetic really. A quick shot of an arrow, right through the chest. It was a rebel's death. The remaining nurses were carefully trying to pull the projectile out without damaging any more tissue or causing more bleeding. The wound was fresh and his muscles were still soft and moveable. He had been shot very recently. Elyon faintly smiled. This could give her an edge. It should be easier to bring him back, the less she delays...
"Keep treating him!" Elyon ordered the nurses. "I'm going to try and create a miracle..." She was met with a few bewildered faces but was obeyed nontheless. She clasped her hands and held them in front of her face, while she closed her eyes and concentrated... Cedric said it would be difficult so she would have to give it everything she had...

[Enter: Vathek from the Larvaks field]
Vathek could see the commotion from far away - hundreds of soldiers and servants, surrounding something in the middle of the courtyard. It probably was Phobos' body. But why was everyone so quiet? No loud screams, no moans, no shouts of freedom. Just whispers. Vathek approached the mob and tried to see what everyone was so excited about, but the crowd was just too huge. No sign of Cedric either. What was going on?
"Ahem..." Vathek touched one nurses shoulder. "What's happening?" "Sir Vathek..." the nurse said. "Don't you know? The prince is... dead." "I know that much." Vathek didn't bother to pretend being sad. "Is... his body over there?" "Oh yes. And the princess..."
So, Elyon already heard the good news. Phobos is no more and Meridian is hers. That means... It wasn't good news. Not at all. Such power could corrupt many - and Elyon wasn't a saint. Vathek could see how her newfound magical powers made her more arrogant and selfish with every passing day. If she'll become queen now, without knowing the truth... She might become a second Phobos.
"...Is doing something weird to him..." The nurse continued. "Something weird?" Vathek asked. "What do you mean?" "She said... that she'll try creating a miracle."
What the hell was that supposed to mean? Vathek raised his eyebrows. He had no idea. But it didn't sound good. He had to see it all himself. It was risky - Vathek was sure that Elyon already knows about his betrayal and could turn him into ash with her arsenal of magical spells. Vathek didn't like the idea of dying like that - getting killed by a spoiled brat who doesn't know enough to value lives. But he had to understand what this 'miracle' was. A very bad feeling kept throbbing in his chest. A miracle. A miracle. Vathek started making his way through the crowd. For him it was easy and soon he could see Elyon - she stood there, holding her hands over Phobos' body. She seemed so... serious, but not in a way Vathek would have expected. She wasn't sad or shocked - or, in the worst case, content. Vathek approached the princess from behind. The people around started whispering even louder and some pointed their fingers at him. No one was allowed to come this close to the princess without permission, especially under such circumstances. Vathek new that rumors of him going insane already spread through the castle. But he didn't care now.
"Elyon." He said calmly. "What do you think you're doing?"

Elyon half-way opened her eyes without turning around... Really, why would people bother her at this moment?
She recognized Vathek's voice, off course. The voice of a traitor... The voice that was ordered not to sound in her pressence. Vathek's timing could have been worse. She was still only getting herself ready... For a moment, Elyon pondered wether or not she would she should vaporize him but decided not to. After all, with all these soldiers and workers around, the blue Galhot was pretty much trapped... "Vathek..." she coldly stated, still facing her brother's body. "You're here... Have you come to offer your princess the help she needs?" Slowly, Elyon turned around to face the traitor. He thought he could do anything, didn't he? However, not even he could take on all these soldiers... Especially not when he had to deal with her as well... "I could certainly use your help..." she continued, her eyes briefly moving to her right and left sides... Elyon's gaze said everything that had to be told... Vathek was surrounded and this time, she wouldn't be hesitant about sticking all these people on him if he made a wrong move...

"Well, I'd be glad to help." Vathek replied. "But it kind of depends on what you want me to do...
Seriously, how in the world could he help her now? Vathek wasn't very good at creating miracles - at least not for the past few years.

The princess smiled gleefully. Gotcha... She signalled Vathek to come stand next to her while she explained: "You don't have to do much. All I need you to do is borrow me some of your magical strength." Looking around the surounding public some more, Elyon lowered her volume to a whisper... "Between you and me... My powers don't seem to be at full strength yet... Whatever you can offer would be a big help..."
Meanwhile, a number of whisperers slowly entered the courtyard as well... Their planty ears finally heard about their master's demise as well and final respects were in order...

"My magical strength, princess?" Vathek was surprised. "I'm afraid I don't have much of that... Besides, I have no idea how to eer... lend it to you."
Vathek felt like walking into a trap - or maybe he was already caught. He didn't worry much about his life it wasn't valuable enough for him now, that he finally stopped creating evil. Walking here and obeying the princess felt like a goodbye. But still, there was one more question he had to ask, before making the final step.
"Of course, I'm willing to offer all the help I can, princess." Vathek said innocently. "But there is one thing I need to know - how is... lord Cedric? He was severely injured right in front of me and I'm really worried."

Elyon raised an eyebrow. "Really now?" she asked as cold as ever. Despite this, she didn't address the issue any further. "Well, don't worry too much. I'll just take everything I need..." she continued. She had seen it a few times before... She saw how Phobos would occasionally drain energy from those less than loyal to him... "I'll have you see lord Cedric in a moment. In... Exchange for your valuable help..." Elyon's voice sounded like it was filled with sarcasm, yet she seemed to be sincere. "Kneel down for a moment, so I can look at your eyes without straining my neck."

"We speak about Cedric - who I thought was your friend - and yet you don't even seem concerned." Vathek said. "He must have told you about me betraying him or whatever. So either you're very good at pretending or you have something in store for me."
Despite his doubts, Vathek still obeyed the order - but wanted to show that he knows what might happen.

"Think whatever you like..." Elyon told Vathek, again in a low volume. "Just as long as you don't think I won't keep my word..."
Carefully, she placed a hand on his shoulder. Wow... Was this guy's skin made of rocks or something? The Galhot's shoulder felt so unlike what she expected... But then again, Vathek had bony structures grow out of his face, so perhaps it was wrong to be surprised... Elyon lightly squeezed for a moment, before duplicating the scenes she had seen earlier... Elyon drained Vathek's magic in a second but, knowing it wouldn't suffice, continued to do the same with his very lifeforce. It was horrible but not only to Vathek... Elyon didn't quite like the experience either. It was as if she drained all the warmth from his body... As if she cut open his veins and had his blood travel into her arm and body... As if... Well, it didn't really require any more explenation. It was just highly unpleasant to her...
Finally she released him. Vathek wasn't dead. She made that much certain... But he could just barely stand on his own two legs... Well, at least that would mean he couldn't try and do anything to Cedric while he's helpless... Elyon's face was devoid of all her previous glee. She didn't feel invigorated at all. On the contrary, in fact... "Th-" She wanted to spit a sarcastic remark again but she couldn't do it... She felt a little disgusted with herself actually... She just drained him like that... Like a half-empty carton of milk... And to top it off, she was about to kick the man while he was down... "Just... Take him to see lord Cedric." she said to no one in particular. "Give him what he wants."

Vathek understood what happened. He tried to find himself angry on Elyon. He tried to try to resist. But in the end, he had no strength left to do anything of the sort.
"Thank you, princess." He said very quietly and stumbled away. A pair of soldiers quickly assisted him. They probably understood it as well. No one in the castle was a stranger to this kind of thing. "At once, princess." They replied, obeying the order and almost dragging Vathek out of the courtyard, although he did his best to keep walking himself.

Elyon didn't watch how Vathek struggled to stand upright... She felt like he hated her. And to be honest, he was right to do so. In fact, part of her did just that... Hate herself... But Elyon wouldn't accept any of that and forced herself to believe that she did the right thing... After all, she didn't kill Vathek. She just got even with him, for what he did to Cedric... Yes! That's it! It was all his own fault!
As the whisperers crawled closer, Elyon tried again, from the top... Such a sick irony actually... She was about to use what she got from Vathek to try and raise his hated enemy... So after all, she was kicking the man when he's down... Great way to feel like you've sunk to a new low... Argh! Girl, get a grip! Focus on why you're doing this! Cedric asked you to do this with the last of his strength... The sooner you finish, the sooner you can see him again. Focus...
