[Caleb & Rebel Army: Enter from Rebel base in the Infinite city]
They surround the castle. Caleb holds a meeting with the generals.
Caleb: "Alright, here's the plan. A small party & I shall accept Phobos' not-so-generous offer to attend the party. Although it might be a trap, it'll give us a good chance to check out their defenses. It'll also give me a chance to speak with Princess Elyon. Hopefully, I'll be able to talk some sense into her & this war will end without bloodshed."
Drake: "That is highly unlikely."
Caleb: "But I still have to try. If it is a trap, Taranee will throw fireballs out the window of the ballroom to announce the start of your attack. Do not attack unless I give the signal. An early attack may ruin everything."
Aldar: "Although I dislike the idea of you putting yourself in danger, I will have the men wait for the signal."
Caleb: "Good," *places a hand on Aldar's shoulder* "Cause you'll be in command while I'm gone. A lot depends on tonight's victory, so I don't want there to be any mistakes. May the light of Meridian shine upon us."
Aldar & Drake: "May the light of Meridian shine upon us."
Caleb forms a small group of rebels, then they go to the front gate.

[Jarod: Enter from Main Gate]
Jarod: *looks at the stars* I only have ten minutes until the eggs begin to hatch. I'll need to be quick if I'm to pass through this alive.
He runs down the main path, keeping a close watch for rebel arrows. ________ The rebels see him, but none shoot. Many have heard rumors of the elite soldier's near lightning reflexes & wouldn't dare test to see if they're true. Besides, they were given orders to do nothing until they are attacked first or Caleb gives the signal.
[Miranda: Enter from Trees Near the Castle]
Miranda: There he is! That's the jerk who made Lord Cedric lost to me forever!
The hawk swoops down with the intent to gorge out his eyes. Suddenly, she notices moonlight glint off Jarod's lightsaber.
Miranda: What am I doing? This is suicide! He'll see me coming & cut me down before I can even get close. *flies back into the air* I'll have to choose another strategy.
Jarod: *watches as the bird flies straight for him, then suddenly swoops into the air* Peculiar behavior for a hawk. Come to think of it, do hawks even hunt at this time of night? *shrugs* Apparently they do. *slows down to a walk as he thinks of what to do* I am no longer welcome in the castle. The rebels are my enemy. I no longer have a place in this world. Perhaps now might be a good time to see this Earth Ellie is so fond of?
He leaves the area. Unknown to him, the hawk continues to follow from high in the sky. She soon guesses his destination & flies ahead.

[Enter: Cedric from the Trees Near the Castle]
Agh!!! Miranda! Miranda! Slow down!!!! He choked and stopped as he had just caught a giimpse of what looked like a Jarod and some mysterious hawk...
Oh, so you're going to use your wings, are you? He sighed but followed along as he could. Judging from the flapping of its wings (Cedric had more distinct hearing than humans) they were obviously headed for the Tracker's swamp.

[Hawk: Enter from Tracker's old Swamp Lair] The bird circles the castle in search of her prey. [Enter: Cedric from the Tracker's Swamp Lair] Cedric let out a relieved sign when he saw the familiar hawk circling up above. "Miranda?" He called upwards, "is that you? I've been looking for you for some time now..."

Upon hearing Cedric's words, the black-feathered hawk flies down to perch on his right shoulder. She looks at him with a questioning look.

Cedric sighed. "Ok, ok, I was overeacting back there at the ball. You know I don't like it when someone puts a girl's virtue in jeopardy, even if it's another girl. But still, I guess what I said was pretty uncalled for. I'm sorry," he said the last two words a little grudgingly. "And thanks for the help with Jarod. He'd deeply upset her, so I went after him...looks like you got the job done."
Not sure why he did this, he stroked the perched hawk down her feathered back.

He smiled as it seemed she looked cheered up. Before long, he realized he was petting her. Suddenly he remembered something. Then he stopped smiling. ¨Miranda, what do we do now that Jarod is dealt with? Shall we go back to the castle?¨

Since transforming back into Miranda would stop Lord Cedric from petting her, the blond knight will have to accept something less than a verbal response.
The hawk merely nods.

Cedric was totally oblivious as to why she refused to transform. His thoughts were running back to Elyon...who was in the castle. "I guess we'll go back the way we came."
As he continued to pet the hawk, he started through the secret pathway.

The larveck eggs start hatching. The rebels, at least those who don't have their heads bitten off, scream as they are bitten. The rebel army panics. Aldar & Drake try to keep order & convince them to attempt to rescue the injured. Some charge through the roses & become part of the garden. Some stay to fight the Larvecks & help the injured. Yet, a large portion of the surviving rebels simply run away in fear.

Hay Lin landed with a soft 'thump' amidst the rebels, having lost control of her flight pattern while she was busy figuring out how to make her wings visible again. Now she had the full effect, the guardian outfit and wings said that she meant business. And she did. "Okay creepy creatures, time to party." Normally lines like that were Irma's territory, but she was imagining what her friend would say if she were here. "Chew on something your own size!" She raised her arms over her head and pulled the wind to her. No longer grasping at passing breezes for conversation, she yanked them from every direction, channeling her own energy into the blast she sent at the creatures. They were blasted back by the air, giving her time to move in front of the injured rebels amongst the eggshells. "Hey, you guys, the ones still standing, get them out of here!" she yelled, waving to the rebels still on their feet, who seemed relieved at the break from the assault.
If the others were here, she would have left that to someone else as well. But she was just trying to mimic what the other girls might have done, since they couldn't get here as fast as she could. The whole 'not able to freefall from great heights' thing. "Uh oh...hurry!" The creepy creatures seemed to have recovered from her first blow. She readied herself, pulling in breezes to create a barrier that would let the rebels get the wounded away. Okay, time for round two! She hurled another blast at them to drive them back, but unlike the first attempt some of them seemed to be digging their little buggy claws into the ground while others were blasted back into the air. If only Cornelia was here! "Okay. Okay. I said I could handle this. Time for hurricane Hay Lin!" She rose into the air to avoid a Larvek's attempt to chomp on her, and spun in place, concentrating on giving the rebels time to remove the injured. There was no way she could beat all of these things, but she was holding them off at least. Wind gathered around her, blocking out her hearing. The volume of it was out of control, but she wanted to prove she could do this, that she was a good guardian. This was her first real jaunt around, since she'd been left with the astral drops during the last adventure. She wanted to show them - and herself - that she could do this.

The rebels do as they are told, getting as many injured to safety as possible. Hay Lin does her best to hold the creatures back. Suddenly... www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTelzP-s1MUFifteen large, sticky, green, dome webs (5:44) begin to pop up in several spots around the castle. Many rebels are trapped--even the mighty Hay Lin gets caught in one. Blow as much as she wants, the air simply blows through the webbing without causing any affect to the web. The webbing of all the domes begins to shrink & brink the prey closer to their doom. Aldar & Drake get trapped in separate domes, but the strategy is the same--form a cluster of rebels at the center & fight for your life. ___________________ All the remaining rebels who aren't trapped run away in outright terror.
