Cedric kept staring at her. Had she turned visible without noticing? It was quite likely... Elyon didn't wonder, nor cared, why Cedric kept staring her into her eyes. That's because she stared back, into his finely polished saphires. His eyes were so clear, she didn't dare stare deeper into them, afraid she would see her own reflection. And his skin... She had noticed it before, but it became clear to her once more how smooth and flawless his skin was. It was difficult to believe that Cedric was the leader of Phobos' army, for his face looked so delicate and fragile from up close... His hair... It was as if someone had woven him millions of golden threads. His hair reflected the afternoon light like precious metal. Gold of the finest quality.
Elyon felt nervous and a bit scared. And the worst thing was, she knew why... She felt exacly the same at the haloween party, when Matt came up to her and greeted her. But this wasn't Matt... This was Cedric... The boy from the bookstore... She didn't want to look at him anymore, afraid that he might find out what she was thinking.
Elyon placed her arms around Cedric, closed her eyes and pressed her body onto his in an affectionate hug, like Cedric had given so many already today. "Thanks again..." she softly spoke as she caught herself heartfully smiling...

"No problem."
Cedric put all the life of his heart into his smile. His dark, gleaming sapphires lit up and grew wider, almost blending his pupils into his lens. His finally closed his shining eyes and let the rest of his senses grow stronger for him.
Elyon had done something Cedric was hoping she would do since he got to know her. He wanted that so badly--for Elyon to finally get close to him. The mission no longer mattered. He didn't care for her to get close to him just for the mission. Now he just wanted her company, her grip upon his hand, her never-ending smile, her constant innocence. He realized that more and more each day.
Elyon always gave him a strange feeling that no one else in Cedric's life had ever given him. He wanted to feel like that all of the time. Like no weapon's wound could possibly hurt him. None of Phobos's demanding screeches could scare him. Nothing could hurt him. It was a beautiful and unique feeling, but it wasn't a feeling that was taken very lightly. It didn't just come from Elyon's beauty...it was something that came from deep within her soul. Something that, Cedric realized that even he had one, slowly came from under his soul as well.
What was it called? Cedric remembered that it was so extraordinary, that there could only be one for it. But he couldn't find the exact word.
Then he slowly regained his memory.
No, this can't be...is it really...?

Elyon hugged him. Elyon hugged Cedric... And he hugged her back...
She remembered the old days when Cornelia would be here in Cedric's stead. Every time she was sad, Cornelia could always cheer her up. But hugs with Cornelia were different. They were on a completely different basis. And the difference became even greater ever since Meridian...
Now, she didn't even dare to show herself to Cornelia, even if she wanted to... Cornelia... Cedric had called her 'guardian' once... After she got tossed out the window...
Slowly, she tried to let go of the official. "Cedric..." she whispered again. "How long did you know what you know? How long did you know of me? How long did you know of Heatherfield? And how long did you know about Cornelia?"

Cedric felt Elyon slip out of his arms. He was as guilty as it was, so he decided to let her go. When they were half an inch apart, he looked at her. He heard her questions that he was obviously could not answer but did anyway. With lies.
"Very recently," he answered, "but your brother and I have searched for you years. Ever since that traitor of a nurse Galgheitia had took you, your brother searched for you non-stop.
He was ready to give up when I suggested they took you to Earth, and then I found you. I could tell you were the Light of Meridian because..." Then he stopped. He mind as well tell her.
"Your brother's Seal was activated. The Seal is something your family has always kept. It was past down generations and generations. It holds part of you and your brother's soul. Your brother took so much note of that that he couldn't bear to keep it, so he gave it to me. Your brother's soul grew dead and depressing, as did the Seal. But when you walked by my bookstore the day I entered Earth, the amulet came back to life! I knew from then on that you were Meridian's long lost Light.
"As for the guaridans, we had known of them for some time. They're a legend that your brother has always feared. There is a place out there, in the center of infinity, called Kandracar. It is a place where luxury and apathy take place and where the terrible and self-centered creature called the Oracle rules. He saw your brother take over the throne for you in hopes of taking care Meridian until we found you. But the oracle did not want Meridian to be happy.
"He sent his evil guaridians on a mission to destroy your home. He gave them powers to do so. Hay Lin the power of air, so that she could choke the air you breathe. Taranee the element fire, so that she could burn down Meridian's life. Irma power of over water, so that she could cause massive floods. Cornelia to handle earth so that she killed all of our crops. And Will, the one with the worse mission of all, the Heart of Kandracar, so that she have enough power to kill your brother. I'm telling you, Elyon, they are anything but your friends."

They managed to do it again. Just like Phobos did in Meridian, Cedric brought Elyon back into a state where she allowed herself to get drenched with his stories and lies, and even made her want more... She believed him again...
"That's terrible..." Elyon said. She remained quiet for a second as she swallowed Cedric's lie with no trouble or hesitation at all. "But why? Why would this 'Oracle' do such a thing!? And why did he pick my friends for the job!?"

"Because, Elyon, the Oracle does not enjoy seeing a world be happy. What he does is he puts up a veil so that the world he is currently tormenting can't ask for help from the other worlds. Right now he's isolating Meridian in order to destroy it. As I have mentioned before, the Oracle is self-centered and apathetic. He could care less if they your friends that he chose. All he wishes for is for Meridian to fall, and he doesn't care what he has to do to get his way."
Cedric looked down and almost looked as he were about to cry. "He almost went face-to-face with your brother, Elyon. He...he almost killed my best friend..." This time he completely turned away. "He's heartless, Elyon. And now I'm afraid so are your friends..."

Elyon looked at the ground...
A week ago, I would've thought this to be a fairytale... she thought to herself... Anyone else would've laughed at Cedric, but after everything that happened the past few days... Meridian, castle, Phobos, Cedric, blue man, guardians, traitors, lies and more lies ... she knew that the fairytale was as real as she is...
"But..." she started. Elyon almost didn't dare to ask, but did so anyway. "How can we prevent it? How are we supposed to defend ourselves from them?"

Cedric looked back to her and wiped the tears that were in his eyes. "You're our only hope," he sniffed, "you're the Light of Meridian. Once your brother bears the Crown of Light on your head, you will officially be the Princess, and you will be at full power. It is then that you must fight the guardians."
He looked at Elyon, who hadn't laughed at him or walk away. He formed a small smile.
"I know you can do it, Elyon! You're a strong, brave girl. Phobos and I will be by your side. We will fight till the very end with you. You are our Light..." He put his hand on her shoulder. He was half smiling to lie and half smiling because he was somewhat proud of himself. At least this time he half-told the truth.

S P L A S H Elyon felt as if a large wave fell on top of her. It took her a second to fully understand what Cedric had actually said, and stared at the man astonished.
"Me!?"

"Yes..." he stammered. "You're the Light of Meridian. You're all the hope we have."
Why did he feel the need to continue? When he could easily give up and walk away...
No! He screamed. Phobos and Elyon...don't give up now!!!

"But..." Elyon protested. Even though she subconsciously used her magic a number of times lately, she didn't of them as such.
Isn't Phobos much better suited for that role? "But..." She repeated. "But I'm just a teenage girl... I don't know what i should do..."

"We'll help you, Elyon! Your brother, his guards, and I will try our best to protect you. But only until your coronation! Time is running out...the Oracle is planning on coming back to Meridian bringing it's end with him. Only your Light is strong enough to defeat him. Phobos's powers can't match up to yours, that's why he's eager to give you the throne instead!"
He looked at Elyon a little more. She was right. She was only a teenage girl. But she was a strong one, and he knew it.
"Maybe you are just a teenager," he admitted, "but you were brave enough to learn the truth and put up with me, so I know you can fight the Oracle when the time is right."

Suddenly, Elyon pressed herself onto him again. "I don't want to, Cedric!' she said. "I don't want to fight this Oracle... I don't want to fight my friends..."
She took a short break, wondering if she should say it or not... "And most of all..." Even though fighting the Oracle would be inevitable... Even though her friends wouldn't feel the same about her... Even though she's far from ready for any coronation at all... "...I don't want to be crowned..."
"Not if it means that you won't be there to help me anymore..."

He continued to smiled. "Didn't I just say your brother and I would by your side?"
His eyes sparkled. "Elyon, we will fight to the death to help you defeat the Oracle. But did you honestly think I would abandon you if I survived? Of course not! I'm always right beside you Elyon, for as long as I can be."
This time, he knew he had said the whole truth. And there was nothing with it.
He wrapped his arms around her once again.

Elyon looked up, forcing herself to let go of Cedric again. "Did you hear that?" she asked. "Is someone... downstairs...?"
