[Enter Matt from Hallway]
Matt walked into detention not paying attention where he was going. All of his attention was focused on his notebook where he was scribbling something as he walked.
Matt only looked up from his notebook to see where he wanted to sit and immediately he spotted a familiar red head.
...What's Will doing in detention?
Matt wanted to sit next to her and ask but then remembered her attitude at lunch and had second thoughts. Instead he picked a seat near the front and turned around.
"Do you have detention?" he asked Will with a curious tone in his voice.

"No, I missed last class so I'm staying after to finish an essay," she responded. Nothing more, nothing less.
Geez! I need to stop being so grumpy. Everyone must seriously hate me today. I must still be tired from all of the Guardian duty...

Andrew: "It's because she's your friend. Besides..." *sits in the now empty chair in front of Will* "Considering what we had together, it would have been rude for me not to ask." "I was just trying to be polite."

God, this is not the topic she wanted to discuss right now...I want to tell him we had absolutely nothing together, but it would probably be better to end this now before I say more things that I will probably regret
"Sure, thanks for the consideration"
*Will looked back at her assignment wondering what to say next*

Matt had no clue what Andrew was talking to Will about, but he did recognize the tone of Will's voice as the same irritated one that she had used at lunch. Catching the hint he went back to work on writing in his notebook.

She didn't sound too convincing. Maybe the suggestion to ditch her & go out with one of her friends hurt her somehow? He didn't mean to. He'd gladly take Will. It's just... The girl seems to have suddenly lost interest in him & he'd rather not attend the concert alone. But if there's even a glimmer of hope...
Andrew: "Is there something you'd like to talk about? I'm not going to be going anywhere for a while so I have plenty of time."

*Mr. Collins coughed threateningly*
"You are not in detention to talk. You can chat with Miss Vandom after your detention ends"
*Will gave Andrew a shrug and sighed as she continued writing*

Matt put his notebook away as he finished writing. Great, now he had nothing to do. Matt turned and gave Will a smile, weak smile. He just looked at Andrew, unsure if he should still be angry at the person who landed him in detention or jealous that Will seemed slightly more willing to talk to him.
Matt shrugged and brought out a book from his backpack. He would have attempted to talk to Will but Mr. Collins had just spoken up about talking.
Matt leaned back in his chair and began to read.

An hour ticked by...
How long is their detention supposed to be? This is pretty awkward to be in the same room as both of them all quiet like this...
*Will continued writing and asked to refer to one of the classroom books for her last example*
Almost done...

He watches Will a little longer. After all, Mister Collins never said anything against starring. And yet, what if she feels threatened by him? Uncomfortable even... He sighs as he gets up & moves to the desk nearest to the door. He stares at the black board. If she wants to be near him, then she'll follow. If not, the answer will soon be obvious. An hour ticked by...

Matt's eyes constantly kept glancing back at the clock at the front of the room. After an hour of constant reading his attention span had died and he had taken to randomly singing in his head.
After another 30 minutes had past Matt could feel himself get fidgety. How much longer would this last?

*Will wondered why Andrew moved. Maybe he was so sick of being near her when she didn't like him that way back? Will finally put down her pencil as she finished the conclusion. It wasn't perfect, but Will thought that the essay was pretty good. She put her school stuff in her bag, stood up, and threw her backpack over her shoulder*
"Done, Will?"
"Yes sir," she answered.
"Very good. Try to correct it as much as you can and type up a final copy to turn in tomorrow," he said. "Got a good afternoon planned?" "Mmm, errands and homework. I need to go to the petshop for my dormouse," Will responded. She wanted to catch Matt's eye to let him know that she didn't forget, but she didn't want Andrew to see and for them to start fighting again.
"Well have a good day, and I hope your mom can open up to you soon."
*Will stared at Mr. Collins in confusion again*
"Uh, right. See you tomorrow Mr. Collins," Will said, making a mental note to confront her mother when she got home. She turned around and waved goodbye to Andrew and Matt and walked out the door.

And there goes his chance to talk to Miss Vandom after detention. So much for trust in teachers...
Maybe Hay Lin can put him in a better mood?
He leaves.

Matt gathers his things once detention finished.
I wonder if I can make it to the pet store before Will does. I'm glad she didn't forget.
Matt waved goodbye to the teacher and left.

[Enter: Lord Cedric from the staff room]
Cedric walked into the classroom. It was still empty, and professor Collins was more than eager to meet his students. And to teach them a thing or two about... no, not history. Life and death. Or maybe just death. A thought about just killing one of them as Collins and then running away came into his head. But no, too risky - again. So all he could do now was wait.
